Provide the technology vision and leadership necessary to transform the key systems and services within a global organization. The position reported to the CIO and interfaced directly the executive leadership of five business units. Accountable for over 170 IT resources, and capital and expense budget of over $20M.

Direct a team of 100, in strategic system development initiatives for multiple business units and countries.

Designed, implemented and managed/governed a Global Development Center in Trivandrum India. This served as a lower cost staff augmentation for both new development projects and legacy support and flexed between 50 – 80 resources depending upon need.

Spearheaded extensive efforts to revitalize legacy systems and modernize systems development

Implementation of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach and toolset.

Introduction of Business Process Management and Workflow (Oracle BPM) into the fabric of all new system development efforts.

Mainstreaming of an Enterprise Service Bus (Oracle ESB).

OVP of Information Technology

Directed the strategic and tactical efforts of the Order Processing and Oracle PeopleSoft (HR/Finance) Applications Development, Support and Maintenance organization. Accountable for over 50 IT resources, and capital and expense budget of over $3M.

Directed the upgrade of a 2000 seat, 24x7 Siebel Call Center (Oracle CRM). The project included an RFP process for selecting and partnering with a vendor with upgrade expertise, software upgrade, HW procurement, Call Center Change Management, Java Back Office upgrade, Crystal Reports upgrade, and a strategy for a phased implementation and syncing of systems during the roll-out phase.

Led the development of the Credit Card Authorization system for HSN to handle high-volume transactions and high availability demands.

Acted as a change agent for the organization by championing a common, PMI based project management and Rational Unified (RUP)/ Iterative based systems development methodology. Educated and gained buy-in from senior executives, and developed training for the IT organization.

Participated in IT Steering Committee with HSN Executive Leadership to set direction and priority on initiatives.

Managing Principal

Founded a boutique systems integration company with over 30 IT resources, and capital and expense budget of over $5M. Responsible for all aspects of running the business, as well as providing consulting services for a select set of clients personally.

Performed Business Development and Program Management for multiple national clients, through the management of 4 geographic Practice Leaders: Los Angeles, Dallas, Raleigh, and Kansas City.

Directed the development of a CRM “Medicare Call Center” for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.

Worked with a Health Care and Finance Administration (HCFA) representative, as well as BCBSFL accounting, to manage project financials.

Java based implementation using IBM Call Path software and Telephony.

Introduced RUP Methodology and Use Case approach to requirements, design and testing.

Managed team of 30 AIX, Windows 95, C++, Visual C++/MFC, and Encina/DCE developers in the development of a “Customer Acquisition” system for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.

Directed an Object Technology practice while performing as an Object Technology Consultant for multiple IBM customers.

Acted as Chief Architect and Associate Project Manager for the deployment of the “Claims” and “Customer Acquisition” applications for Liberty Mutual Insurance. The project reached a staff count of 250 managers, developers, testers, documentation specialists and business analysts at peak.

Led technical team, in conjunction with IBM Insurance Process Re-engineering Consultants, in a 20 week Business and Technical Transformation effort. Participated in the business transformation of the Claims process, Customer Acquisition process, and Technical Infrastructure areas of the business.

Conducted a study with United Health Care to determine the effectiveness, robustness, usability and overall completeness of the Object Oriented development environment and being used by UHC. The process included reviewing hardware, software, network, methodologies, procedures, tools, staffing, and staff training.

Conducted a study for Smith Barney to determine the viability of a project, proposed by IBM, to Smith Barney. Led a small team that reviewed business goals, proposed technology, and produced recommendations to enhance the likelihood of success. Managed from initiation of engagement through delivery of proposal.
