EDUCATION

Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (2013)

University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland.

Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (2011)

Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, India.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

OPTIMIZED THERMAL SYSTEMS, College Park, MD . Sept 2013 - Present

Thermal Systems Engineer

Theoretical

. Identified performance data representation methods for positive

displacement compressors alternate to AHRI Standard 540, through

extensive literature review

. Performed analytical comparison of the strengths and weaknesses of the

physical, semi-physical and empirical compressor models using error

analysis in Matlab and Engineering Equation Solver

. Performed uncertainty analysis and representation in accordance with

the requirements of the ASHRAE Standard 23.1 and ASHRAE Guideline 2

. Identified refrigeration technologies with a high potential for future

adoption in a report on the 'State of the Art in Commercial

Refrigeration', compiled for a major research organization

. Worked on testing of Version 3 of the XProps refrigerant database,

configured to work with multiple software architectures

. Designed a simple demonstration user-interface using Microsoft Visual

Studio Express for a client

. Used proprietary software for modeling and performance testing of tube-

fin heat exchangers and overall vapor compression refrigeration cycle

analysis

Experimental

. Designed and built a thermally insulated chamber for the testing of a

novel thermo-electric refrigeration apparatus for a national

laboratory

. Helped with the setting up of National Instruments data acquisition

instrumentation and LabView programming

. Familiar with the use of thermocouples, stroboscopes, voltage and

power transducers

THE COCA COLA COMPANY, Guntur, India ( 2011-2012

Manufacturing Executive

Worked with diverse viscous fluids at various pressures and temperatures.

Gained experience in supply chain and logistics management practices

including procurement, warehousing, and shipping operations. Trained

extensively in safety protocols and regulations including OSHA requirements

applicable to semi-automated manufacturing. Learned quality control

processes covering every stage of the manufacturing, filling, and packaging

operations. Increased production knowledge of each machine in both the

Returnable Glass Bottle (RGB) and PET lines including machine operation,

maintenance, and troubleshooting for positive displacement, rotary, and

peristaltic pumps.

Key Highlights:

. Served as Line Executive for RGB and PET lines. Supervised 12-25 member

team, developed production planning skills, promoted increased workplace

efficiency with introduction of 6 Sigma and Total Productive Maintenance

policies, and implemented preventive maintenance policies with 3 zeros 8

wastes concepts. Implemented 8 pillars of TPM basics focusing on BEC,

5S, PM, and CI. Minimized downtime with TPM and problem solving skills.

. Attained maximum efficiency of 100% on PET line (100 bpm) and 85% on RGB

line (600 bpm)

. Led project to optimize conveyor lubricant consumption in RGB lines and

achieved 40% cost reduction per beverage case. Completed project 1 month

before scheduled date.

. Engaged in abnormality identification and mitigation efforts and

performed Root Cause Analyses to identify failure causes and develop

solutions.

. Gained experience in gas flow through pressurized pipes and combustion

boiler maintenance.

. Utilized pressure-enthalpy charts to calculate refrigeration unit

COPs and recommended improvement

. Increased efficiency through replacement of Thermax shell and tube

with improved Alfa Laval PHEs.

. Performed over-hauling of Ateliers Francois and Chicago Pneumatic 40

bar oil free air compressors

ADDITIONAL PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Flow Boiling in Microgravity - A Review, University of Maryland ( 2013

Evaluated microgravity effects on horizontal and vertical internal flow

boiling phenomena including flow regimes, bubble dynamics, heat transfer

coefficients, critical heat flux, and pressure drop. Identified need for

further research before designs can reliably be produced for microgravity

operation based on conclusion that existing studies merely demonstrate

extrapolation of earth gravity results to microgravity conditions.

Solar Photovoltaic versus Solar Dish Stirling Engine - An Informed Choice,

University of Maryland ( 2012

Identified both advantages and disadvantages of solar powered energy

generation options from homeowner's perspective, with attention to

technical, economic, and aesthetic impacts. Analyzed lifecycle of both and

recommended Solar Dish Stirling Engine.

Team Member, Construction of an Electronic Gear Shift Control for

Automobile Applications, K.L.C.E. ( 2011

Designed and assembled kinematic linkage controlled by 4 stepper motors to

replicate stick shift gear box motion and completed work 1 week before

completion date.

Project Leader, Analysis of the Working of a Beta/Displacer Stirling

Engine, K.L.C.E. ( 2009

Completed simplified working model of 2-piston configuration Stirling

engine after analyzing benefits over competitive configurations.

Project Leader, Analysis of Properties of Green Sand Used for Castings of

Metals, K.L.C.E. ( 2010

Identified optimal water and clay concentration to attain defect-free

casing through careful analysis of properties gained with 5mm to .1mm grain

sizes and 4% to 18% moisture content.
