SICU Charge Nurse
As charge nurse, I assumed the role on a regular basis, delegating assignments, inventory of equipment,
responding to rapid responses and code blue episodes within the hospital. I perform narcotics inventory
via the PYXIS. I perform chart reviews and chart checks for admitted/transferred and discharged patients.

Surgical Intensive Care Unit Staff Nurse April 2012-April 2013
As Staff nurses the patient population served presented immediately postoperatively with an array of
surgical procedures including but not limited to coronary artery bypass, AVR, amputations, cardiac
catherizations, partial/total hemicolectomy, esophagectomy, thoracotomy, etc. Hemodynamic monitoring
(PA catheters, CVP, arterial lines, etc.) was essential to care of these peri operative/post-operative patients.
Administration of sedative medications and monitoring of their effects is daily task assumed as the
assigned nurse of a designated patient. Titration of vasoactive, inotropic, anticoagulants and array of
cardiac medications to their desired effects is an accustomed role within the S ICU. Collaborating with
respiratory therapist and maintaining ventilated patients is a daily responsibility. I provided care to same
day surgery patients monitoring, educating, and discharging them home with minimal hospital lodging.

Med-Surg Charge Nurse/Preceptor-Registered Nurse
I functioned as a charge nurse on a regular basis. Duties included organizing staff assignments,
verify/implement/delineate MD orders, performing chart inspections for admission assessments, skin
assessments, fall risk assessments, pain evaluations, and admission/transfer/discharge documentation,
etc., performs quality control on nursing equipment (crash carts, glucometers, and refrigerators). I was
utilized regularly for
preceptor of new/experienced nurses to the floor for orientation to the night shift’s responsibilities.

Medical Surgical Staff Nurse
Provided bedside care to an adult population with various medical conditions including pre op and post
op care. Nursing care consisted of pre op/post op teaching of a vast array of medical procedures (vascular
surgeries, cosmetic surgeries, amputations, TURP, organ transplantations, etc). I also provide care to
medically sensitive patients with multiple comorbities, collaborating with clinicians to stabilize and
comfort patient and family. I serve on the unit base council committee collaborating with colleagues in
an effort to make modifications/alterations which improve patient satisfaction, staff competency and
overall effective treatment to the patient population and their caregivers/family.

Supervisory Medical Technician
Managed a team of six individuals in the Specimen Processing area to initiate the testing and sampling of
laboratory specimens for various components of TVHS (Nashville, Murfreesboro, Bowling Green KY,
Chattanooga and Knoxville). The duties also required weekly and monthly scheduling of employees,
maintaining employee documents, and providing continuing education to laboratory personnel of 30
employees, initiating/updating manuals to maintain state laboratory licensure and other regulatory
agencies (CAP, JCHAO, and OSHA), developed policies and procedures adopted by the TVHS-Nashville.
Served on the quality management committee to ensure patient, clinician and employee satisfaction were
being met. Created MS Word documents, presented EXCEL spreadsheets for statistical analysis to
quality management.
