A retail and wholesale distributor of medium to high end consumer sewing

machines and is a subsidiary of SVP which is the global leader of sewing

machines in over 57 countries. VSM operates in 185+ retail locations in 30

states and 1200 employees.

Manager of Human Resources

Recruited into VSM to start-up and organize a Human Resource Department.

Reported to the CEO and VP HR and managed four individuals in HR, payroll,

reception, and the mail room. VSM grew from 100+ employees and 25 stores

to 1200 employees and 185+ store locations in 30+ states. Areas included

administrative controls and compliance, policy and procedures, national

talent acquisition of retail and corporate employees, benefits negotiation

& administration, compensation development & management, government

compliance, employee handbook development & implementation, safety,

employee relations & communications, local and global training &

development & succession planning ensuring all aligned with the company

goals and strategies.

Researched, reviewed, and negotiated the annual $2 million benefits budget

allowing the company to remain competitive in the market and cost

effective.

Seamlessly led Pfaff US acquisition team integrating distribution, sales,

and administration into the VSM North American organization on time and

within budget.

Co-designed three two-year global leadership-training programs for 100+

potential future VSM global leaders many of which went on to senior

management positions and/or assumed leadership roles within the company.

Reduced workers' compensation claims with development and implementation of

safety communications and training.

Submitted and received $30,000 of training grant monies from the State of
