TRAINING

Project type In-plant training in the Process Equipment Division, Shell Preparation Department, where I

learnt about the entire process of SAW welding, SMAW welding. Tig Welding, NDT method including

Magnetic Particle Test, Dye penetrant test, Radiography testing and various types of welding defects, their

causes and remedies.

DUTIES:

Assisting the shop floor supervisor & assigning duties to welders for SAW, SMAW & TIG welding.

Planning daily activities and supervision of production,

Co-ordinate with departments for quality inspection and NDT for the welded heat exchanger shell.

Troubleshooting and resolving of daily problems encountered in the production such as quality of

weld, cracking of weld and delay in production.

PROJECT: Design of long seam heating fixture.

Time Study on the Long Seam SAW process revealed that due to the absence of a standardized fixture a

large amount of time was wasted in locating scrap and welding them to support the burners during the

preheat, process heating and post heat process. A long seam heating fixture was designed to eliminate this

time wastage and the entire process time was reduced by 20mins per process.

In-plant Trainee at Switch board division, mainly involved in the assembly of the switch board panels.

DUTIES:

Assisting the shop floor supervisor & assigning duties to technicians for assembly of Switchboard

panels.

Planning daily activities and supervision of production.

Co-ordination with departments for quality inspection of panels.

Troubleshooting and resolving of daily problems encountered in the production in relation to quality of

parts, mechanical, electrical, controls and those problems arose during assembly of the circuit breaker
