EXPERIENCE

Q2ebanking (Internet Banking) Director, QA 09/2012 – Present

Q2 builds virtual banking software for financial institutions (community banks and

credit unions) helping engage account holders where they live, work and play. Q2

products run on a single, non-siloes, windows-based technology platform and offers

unprecedented integration between the web, voice, mobile and tablet banking channels,

and supports cross-channel Multi-Factor Authentication as well as open vendor

integration with the financial institution’s other third-party applications. Q2

products allows smaller FIs to compete with the best Mega banks. Q2 merges business

critical functionality with an engaging user experience.

As the Director of Quality Assurance, I manage 8 resources in day-to-day QA tasks

(Saleforce case management, test planning, release testing, issue reporting in Jira, and

other QA tasks) and perform annual evaluations. Developed justification, deployment

plan and implemented HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Unified Functional

Test (UFT) tools. Established initial test automation requirements and methodology for

web-based and mobile interfaces, hired developers and defined the initial automation

goals. Defined a new release manager position, hired resource and provided initial

guidance and tracking. Documented new QA processes and trained staff. Coordinated

with leaders of other groups toward moving non-QA tasks to more appropriate operational

groups. Created, coordinated and monitored QA plans for two major releases and

several patch/maintenance releases. Assisted with testing and drafted defects using

Bugzilla, then Jira. Interacted with Project Management, Implementations, Support, and

Relationship Managers to discuss their needs from QA and shortfalls with existing

processes and potential improvements. Performed browser compatibility testing against

newly released browser versions. Briefed customers and new internal resources on our QA

department, associated tasks and processes. Assisted with product testing, issues

analysis, and troubleshooting against Web-based, Smartphone and Tablet interfaces, as

needed. Represented QA at various management meetings and planning sessions. Provided

annual budget inputs. Defined and documented the mission, tasks and resource

requirements for two new groups 1) Implementation’s Delivery Quality and 2)

Development’s Compliance and Certification groups. Performed as the Office manager for

our Norcross, GA location.

Barracuda Networks (Web Security) Manager, QA 03/2010 – 10/2011(Downsized)

Barracuda Networks provides security, networking and storage products through network

appliances and cloud services. The products include web filtering, load balancing,

application delivery controllers, message archiving, NG firewalls, backup services and

data protection. These products provides protections for email, web surfing, web

hackers and instant messaging threats such as Spam, Spyware, Trojans, and Viruses.

As the QA Manager for Cloud-based Web Security - Flex, I managed four QA resources using

agile processes and assigned QA resources to sprint tasks. Developed test plans, test

cases, test data and guided the content and organization of test cases. Performed

functional, load, security, user acceptance and operational testing against each

release. Performed manual and automated testing and maintained testing environment

(hardware, application and database upgrades). Provided process guidance and directed

cross-organization coordination. Identify deficiencies (using Jira); suggest

enhancements and continuous process and product improvements for Flex. Developed QA

entrance criteria (requirement completeness and design details). Evaluated web

application and network security scanning tools and provided purchase recommendations to

upper management. Evaluated and recommended web application and network security

scanning tools.

Sabbatical 01/2009 – 3/2010

InfoWeapons (IPv6 Appliances) Director, QA 01/2008 – 01/2009 (Downsized)

InfoWeapons creates next-generation, IPv6-compliant, network appliances. Products

include: 1) SolidDNS™ - A dual stack (IPv4 and IPv6 capable) DNS/DHCP server appliance;

2) SolidPBX™ - IPv6 Ready, Gold Certified advanced dual-stack Voice over Internet

Protocol (VoIP) Private Branch Exchange (PBX) network appliance and; 3) SolidWall™ -

Multi-function dual-stack firewall, VPN and IPv6 Tunnel end-point (server and client).

The company’s products and services enable customers to make the rapid transition to

IPv6 technologies.

I directed all QA efforts (planning, execution, issue tracking, automation, and

continuous improvement) for IPv6 Network products. Provided process guidance and

directed cross-organization coordination. Travelled to Cebu, Philippines to mentor

technical staff, review and enhance existing Development, QA and Support processes.

Conducted weekly conference calls from the U.S. to Cebu to obtain status and guide on-

going development, QA and Support efforts. Developed and executed manufacturing

processes for building, performing User Acceptance Testing, then shipping demo or

purchased servers to potential and new customers, respectively. Initiated, organized

and lead various security certifications, including IPv6 Ready, Joint Interoperability

Test Command (JITC), and Common Criteria. Assumed the SolidWall Project Manager Role in

Cebu, Philippines for two months supporting the roll-out of PLDT’s next generation

mobile network. Aided the deployment planning and definition of resource requirements.

Conducted weekly communications with customers and field engineers. Performed data

analysis on field issues and communicated results to various customer groups and

responsible developers, toward resolution.

Secure Computing/CipherTrust (Email Security) Director, QA 08/2000 – 01/2008

CipherTrust was an email security, software company. The main products were: 1)

IronMail, an email security, anti-spam, gateway appliance and 2) TrustedSource, a

reputation system that provided reputation scores for Internet identities, such as IP

addresses, URLs, domains, and email/web content. CipherTrust lead the market for

integrated e-mail security from 2002-2007 per Gartner and other industry analysts. In

August 2006, Secure Computing Corp. bought CipherTrust.

As Director of QA, I built the QA department, using SDLC methodologies and directed it

for eight years. Built the initial test environment and established standards for

future growth. Conducted personnel selection, mentoring, evaluations, promotions and

terminations. Developed and standardized QA methodologies (test planning, execution,

reporting and continuous improvement). Guided or aided the definition and/or refinement

of Development, Support, Technical Writing, Project Management and other organizational

processes. Defined the Configuration Control Board (CCB) process, lead weekly meetings

toward issue resolution and guiding the content of future releases. Performed project

management, test case development (using TestDirector), test execution (using WinRunner)

and reporting against several products and product features (using Bugzilla). Guided the

day-to-day operations of 12 local and 8 remote (India) QA resources. Directed QA

efforts for all messaging products (E-Mail, Instant Messaging, Encryption, Centralized

Management, Compliance, etc.) including PM, install, functional, performance (load and

stress), regression and UAT phases. Submitted quarterly budgets and represented QA at

all executive status and coordination meetings. Received CipherTrust Founder’s Award,

Dec 2001.

S1 Corporation (Internet Banking) Director, QA 09/1995 – 07/2000

S1 Corporation was a financial services software vendor, specializing in Internet

banking, payment processing, software for automated teller machines and retail point of

sale applications, primarily for banks, retailers and credit unions. S1 started as

WebTech, then Security First Network Bank (SFNB - first pure Internet bank in the

United States), then Security First Technologies and finally S1.

Served from 1995-2000, as first QA resource, then QA Manager and finally Director of QA.

Directed all QA efforts for the Virtual Bank Manager (VBM) software; including but not

limited to; project management, test preparation, execution, automation, metric

capturing and documentation for the “World’s First Internet Bank”. Developed QA

methodologies and processes for external inputs (QA Entrance Criteria) and outputs (QA

Deliverables). Developed guidelines and templates, initial metric requirements and

status reporting, toward establishment of a standard QA Testing Methodology for the full

S1 Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Developed initial assignment and mentoring

guidelines for new staff. Directed and evaluated the efforts of 12 QA staff members.

Assigned and assisted staff members in developing testing objectives, guidance, detailed

procedures and automation. Developed list of QA Core Competencies and created a QA

skills database. Assigned and guided QA staff allocated to specific projects/products,

and performed all required cross-organization coordination. Performed analysis of

existing tools, obtained tool requirements from QA staff, researched existing commercial

tools, lead tool evaluations, guided final tool selections, developed purchase

justifications and implementation plans. Defined test automation process, prioritized

automation assignments and conducted weekly progress meetings. Researched Quality

Assurance Institute (QAI) certification programs and lead efforts to prepare all QA

Project Leads for applicable certification exams (CSTE or CQA). Coordinate information

sharing and process improvement with other corporate groups, including Project

Management, Software Engineering, Software Manufacturing, Technical Writing, Support,

and Operations. Received Security First Technologies Performance Award in 1997.
