WORK HISTORY
Undergraduate Research Assistant, 09/2013 to Current
Laboratory of Dr. Joan W. Bennett in Department of Plant Biology and Pathology, Rutgers University –
New Brunswick, New Jersey
● Assisted in lab project investigating the toxic effects of fungal VOCs released by superstorm Sandy molds
on embryogenesis of Drosophila melanogaster using exposure studies.
● Independent project: Investigation of toxicological effects of VOCs released by two different strainsof
Aspergillus versicolor, collected from the Hurricane Katrina damaged buildings, using Drosophila
melanogaster as a model system.
IPM Field Technician, 05/2013 to 09/2013
Department of Entomology, Rutgers Cooperative Extension of NJAES – New Jersey
Duties performed:
● Monitored populations of destructive pests like Corn Earworm, European Cornborer and Stinkbugs that
are prevalent in sweet corn, bell peppers, tomatoes, pumpkins and cole crops that are grown state wide.
● Monitored occurence of any pathogenic diseases, bacterial and fungal, commonly found in various field
crops to forecast subsequent diseases.
● Assisted growers in decision making about when to use insecticide and/or pesticide application in
crops, once the infestation is reached above set thresholds.
● Informed all the organic as well as the inorganic growers of the potential diseases in the surrounding
areas.
● Kept track of the adult moth activity using backlight trap counts to indicate subsequent infestation.
Laboratory Accessioner and Medical Transcriptionist, 08/2011 to 07/2012
Urology Care Alliance – Lawrenceville, NJ
Duties included:
● Handling of human specimens such as urine samples, prostate tissue, testicles, vas deferens and tumor
tissues of urology department.
● Accessioning of the human specimens, urological as well as histological, and sending to relevant
department for processing.
● Preparation of thin-prep slides for cytology and FISH analysis.
● Weekly maintenance of Tissue Tek VIP machines and Immuno-stain XT machines.
● Handling and preparation of chemical reagents used in the laboratory.
● Maintenance of monthly Inventory logs for quality assurance.
● Data entry, Transcription and distribution of the pathology reports.
● Handling and disposal of biohazardous and non-biohazardous waste.
