Responsible for monitoring supplier quality. Use proprietary schematic and specification software and parts layout information to ensure that supplier parts meet requirements. Troubleshoot part defects, reject defective parts, and negotiate remediation strategies with suppliers. Manage quarantined parts and match certified Return Authorization numbers as required. Track down defective parts on the manufacturing floor for retrieval, replacement or repair.

• On a daily basis, responsibly researched problems with suspicious parts. Determine root cause of problems and promptly implement countermeasures to improve quality and production processes.

• Supported launch of Nissan Leaf and Nissan Rogue. Scrutinized sample parts, reviewed parts management processes, evaluated part work flows, analyzed distribution, production and assembly processes, and ensured overall quality was satisfactory to commence launch.

PRODUCTION MANAGER, TOWER AUTOMOTIVE SMYRNA, TN

2004 to 9/2012

Managed a $1,700,000 budget and a staff of over 30 associates responsible for delivery of truck frame parts. Defined and improved manufacturing processes. Established Kaizen projects to upgrade quality, increase productivity, optimize ergonomics and reduce cost. Planned personnel requirements, forecast production volumes and lead safety council meetings. Implemented new standard operating procedures to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

• Used QAD and ERP software to accurately track costs, inventory and production.

• Participated in launch of Nissan Frontier, XTerra and Pathfinder frame assemblies. Developed prototypes and validated with client that these met specifications. During launch, never shipped an out of specification assembly.

• Established a safety culture that resulted in zero injuries or accidents during tenure.

• Initiated a Kanban just-in-time inventory replenishment system that saved the company an estimated $50,000 per year.

• When company was forced to downsize, personally retained to lead other departments. Reprogrammed Johnson Controls and Allen Bradley robotic assembly systems. Maintained production hardware. Ensured personnel were appropriately trained on material handling equipment.
