Trained in the use of four automated DNA extraction systems and the
Ausdiagnostics MT-PCR real-time assay. Subsequently used training to
successfully complete two projects for the General Microbiology/Infectious
Diseases Department:
(1) Evaluation of the four automated DNA extraction systems used at
Westmead as to their proficiency in extracting bacterial DNA from
problematic templates.
(2) Evaluation of three liquid broths for the selective enrichment of
nosocomial bacteria.
Banner Health Volunteer (Phoenix, AZ) June 2007 - August

Responsible for maintaining adequate medical supplies, performing
receptionist activities, transporting patients, and providing general
patient care in the intensive care unit.

Provided a clean and friendly environment for patients and their families.
Duties included general maintenance of patient rooms and common areas and
direct patient contact including companionship, patient transportation and
preparing the deceased for transport to the morgue.

Church Youth Group: Involved in a wide variety of community outreach
programs including volunteering at the Sunrise Nursing Home, sorting and
packaging food at the Philabundance food drive, and building a home with

Trained and certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (Basic) in the
state of New Jersey. Responsibilities included providing initial emergency
care, life saving treatment, patient stabilization and transport to
hospital. Becoming an EMT sparked my interest in healthcare because it
