ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Maria Eugenia Achurra G. is a second-year Ph.D. student in architecture at the University of
Cincinnati s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP). Two decades ago, she was
awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, to obtain an M.S.Arch. at DAAP. For this graduate degree, she
submitted the thesis, “’The Gaze’ in Current Architectural Discourses” (1993). Ms. Achurra is also
a registered architect in her native Panama, where she obtained a professional B.Arch. from the
University of Panama (1988).
