To Whom It May Concern:
Although I am considered a new graduate, I believe that I possess the qualities that will make me a valuable asset to your patient care team. I am extremely dedicated and compassionate with an interest in a variety of nursing areas including geriatric, oncology and cardiac/ pulmonary units. I also possess great leadership experience and can effectively manage my time and resources. I pride myself in adhering to the following values of accountability, integrity, and team unity.
I recently graduated from Antelope Valley College. In addition to the standard RN program curriculum, I applied for the preceptor program and logged a total of 276 hours with an experienced RN with over 12 years’ experience. I was able to work directly with oncology and various medical/surgical patients during that time and gained valuable patient management skills. By the end of my associate’s RN program, I was effectively managing four patients. My duties included: physical assessments, medication/ blood product administration, recovery of post-op patients, patient education, assisting with procedures, admissions and discharges, and
charting using both the electronic medical record and paper charts. I also volunteered my services for vaccination clinics at two local hospitals, Antelope Valley Hospital and Palmdale Regional Medical Center.
In addition, I held the positions of treasurer, secretary, and delegate member for our school’s chapter of the California Nursing Students’ Association (CNSA). I had the opportunity to attend two California student nurse conventions and participated in state board meetings to discuss current and new rules/ regulations, vote for new board members and help choose a legislative initiative to send to the national student nurse conventions. As mentioned, I held many leadership positions within CNSA and had various responsibilities which included managing chapter funds and membership fee renewals, paying bills, preparing financial reports, chapter minutes and agendas, and communicating with all semesters about meetings and upcoming events.
I was also a member of my school’s graduation cohort, Student Nurses Association Committee Fall
2013. As a member, I was responsible for attending bi-monthly intercollegiate club council meetings to have various fundraising and convention events approved by the school board. I was also responsible for handling all order forms for student nursing pins and graduation candles.
Please review my resume included with this letter. I would highly appreciate the opportunity to discuss my qualifications relative to the needs of your organization. Feel free to contact me if I can provide any further information.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you,
Sincerely,
Jessica Alexander, RN
