Developed and instructed Cancer and Child, and Critical Care the Child. Also co-chaired yearly update for Oncology Nursing
Society core curriculum for certification. Revised mandatory day from two days paid to 4 hours by developing self learning
modules, and only having paid hours to demonstrate competency with CPR skills. Participated in the development of a house
wide skills training lab with Dorothy Del Bueno as the consultant. Entire licensed staff was required to demonstrate their clinical
skills. Provided Quality Improvement initiatives for the department.
Children’s Hospital of Orange County Orange, CA

Developed multi-disciplinary team for Oncology and Cystic Fibrosis. Developed “teen talk” a bimonthly support group for
teens with life threatening illness. Panel members were child psychologist, clinical social worker, and myself. Organized
multiple classes for nurses in Oncology, Diabetes, Caring for Caregiver. Redeveloped nursing research on infections rates of
central venous catheters, and developed nursing skills lab for new procedures. Infection rates were 38% down to 15%.

Initially Out patient unit was in the red more than 1 million dollars and within 18 months
Brought Out patient unit to revenue producing source.
Lectured at various Pediatric Nursing conference regarding programs at CHOC.

Initially clinical nurse in MCH float pool, which included NICU, PICU, Pediatrics and post partum and ante partum
As graduate student developed a Diabetic Teaching program for Adolescents Developed the initial Cancer and the Child
Coordinated and taught multiple nursing lectures on chronic and life threatening illness in children. Worked to coordinate
multidisciplinary team for children with cancer. Coordinated multiple pediatric clinics for chronic illness, and participated
in Children Cancer Study Group, collecting data, and working with protocols for nursing education. Conducted nursing
research on central venous catheters, and developed skills lab which was then conducted yearly, per new protocols, and
halved infection rate. Also helped story board a multi-projector slide program which presented the new protocols to the
nursing staff.
