Over the past 5 years, I have supervised the New Tooling Department consisting of 12 – 19
employees. This included conducting the employee’s annual reviews, interviewing and hiring, employee
scheduling, and promoting a team atmosphere. I worked in a project management role also for about 8
years. I enjoyed quoting new tools; working with the Engineers on the design of finished parts, design for
manufacture, and design of tools to produce them; maintaining budgets for the new tool builds and for the
department purchases; customer communication and tracking of the projects from design thru First Piece
Inspection. Prior to the promotion to Supervisor, I had training in WEDM, CEDM, High Speed
Machining (CNC, NC, and manual milling), as well as continued work in surface grinding and jig
grinding.
In the project management role, I over-seen 20+ projects annually with a total budget of 900k to
1.7 million. The project management included :
• Quoting and winning the business
• Write capital requests and submit with justifications
• Establishing completion dates and milestones to meet the customers expectations
• Distributing the work internally and with many external suppliers to provide on time delivery and
keeping with-in the budget for the tools or projects
• Establishing and updating Microsoft Project or Excel spreadsheets to track the projects and as a
communication device for the customers.
• Participated in or conducted phone calls / conference calls on the status of projects
• Continually track projects to ensure on time completion and provide solutions if a project was
falling behind
• Updated customers weekly on the status of their projects, or sooner at the requests of the
customer
• Provide monthly budget / capital expenditures
• Provide project end budget / capital summaries of expenditures
