PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
WELL SITE GEOLOGIST 2012 - present
TOTAL QUALITY INTEGRATED SERVICES, NIGERIA
Accomplishments
Drilled Assorted well profiles; vertical, deviated, horizontal - single and multi-lateral wells.
Responsibilities
•Provide an on-site geological analysis during the drilling of the well, to support the well
programmed in meeting its geological objectives. This includes evaluation and description of
cuttings and cores, advising drilling personnel at well site of expected litho logical sequence, pay
zones, casing depth, rate of penetration and possible hazardous intervals, ensure the execution of
logging programmes, interpretation of lithology and drilling fluid condition.
•Supervise the work of contractors and laboratory assistants on the rigs to ensure proper
implementation of the geological programmed and to ensure safe working practices.
•Control the quality of logging carried out by the service companies; approving the logs,
performing well site interpretation to assist in best decision making with regard to the progress of
the well programmed.
•Monitoring of Real Time Drilling Operations (INSITE) & Geosteering Management:
Supervision of directional trajectory and evaluation of reservoir, using Triple Combo (Gamma,
Resistivity, Neutron Porosity & Density) and EMI etc.
•Prepare geological well forecasts and structural prediction through interpretation and analysis of
wireline and MWD/LWD logs at well site.
•Carry out other similar or related duties such as liaising with other sections, reading geological
maps and preparing reports to gain a good understanding and interpretation of the field geology.
•Core sample recovery, lithological description, hydrocarbon analysis, preparation of core layout
reports and core correlation with offset wells.
•Advising operations personnel on site and in the operations office.
•Well data merging to computer systems and databases.
•Supervision of geological sample acquisition, storage and dispatch.
•Send geological reports to the office each morning giving details of the drilling activities,
lithologies encountered, assignment of stratigraphic tops, cutting description, hydrocarbon shows,
gas analysis,
correlations, MWD/LWD and directional drilling data etc.
•Keeping detailed records, writing reports, completing daily, weekly and post-well reporting logs.
•Assist the head subsurface operations in the integrated analysis of well data and in preparing
intermediate and final well report.
•Prepare a final well report that contains a well summary with discussions of stratigraphy and
hydrocarbon shows.
•Operates and perform within leading and supporting Petroleum Development safety and
environmental protection policy.
MUD LOGGING GEOLOGIST/ DATA ENGINEER 2008 – 2012
TOTAL QUALITY INTEGRATED SERVICES, NIGERIA
Accomplishments
Performing logging geology and data engineering duties
Responsibilities
Catch and wash sample with sieves. Identify rock on microscope and detail description of rock in
cutting sample giving clues to the environment of deposition of sedimentary rocks. Perform
Calcimetry on sample to determine the percentage of carbonates in the rock and Naphthalene test
to check for cement. Carry out hydrocarbon shows analysis. (Direct fluorescence, cut
fluorescence, distribution and visual stain).
CORING OPERATION: Take Chips from Cores and Well site description of Core sample.
Monitoring coring operations, rate of penetration and formation gas trend while coring.
COMPILATION AND REPORTING OF DAILY DRILLING AND GEOLOGICAL
PARAMETERS.
Preparing and documenting of daily geological report including daily operation, Mud data, depth
interval drilled, lithology percentage, lithology description, Rate of Penetration (minimum,
average and maximum) and Total gas percentage and gas composition.
FORMATION EVALUATION: Perform drilling cutting analysis to produce mud log comparing
result by reading and interpreting Logging while drilling logs (LWD) and off set well reference
Wire line logs to produce final composite logs.
MUDLOGGING EQUIPMENT RIG UP/DOWN AND MAINTENANCE
Set up and maintain gas Detecting equipment, gas line, and gas trap. Set up and maintain well site
Sensor for Pit volume, Pump Stroke, Mudflow, Hook position, Weight on hook, depth Sensors,
Choke and wellhead sensors, Heave compensation and Torque Sensors.
PRIMARY WELL CONTROL Monitor and report change in drilling parameters indicating on
equipment within the Unit and advice on drilling abnormalities observed. Recognized and report
background, Trip, connection gas, drill break and Mud losses to detect onset of pressure gradient
changes. Monitor Trips and complete Trip Sheet to ascertain correct hole filling and constant
hydrostatic pressure preventing Well kick during Tripping(RIH and POOH).
TOOL BOX OR PRE JOB MEETING Always conduct weekly safety meeting or daily pre job /
toolbox meeting before any rig operation commences.
