- Responsible for specific major categories of spend for materials used in
manufacture of the Sleep Number bed, strategic planning and sourcing of
direct materials for achieving significant cost savings, continuity of
supply and risk mitigation through effective sourcing practices,
negotiation and contract execution.
- Manage spend portfolio involving multiple commodities (electronic and
mechanical components, injection molding plastics, box assemblies, etc) and
annual spend of $100 million.
- Establish and manage relationships with key suppliers for commodities in
assigned portfolio. Implement Vendor Managed Inventory.
- Identify suppliers, solicits and reviews quotes, analyzes prices.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to ensure the best quality, service and
cost to achieve business objectives.
- Partner with Product Development, R&D, Engineering, Materials Management,
and Manufacturing to provide sourcing leadership in development and launch
of new products to meet introduction timelines, cost and quality goals, and
service level to customers.
- Conduct score card and business reviews with suppliers and Manages
supplier performance by partnering with Supplier Quality.
- Leverage existing technologies to support the sourcing process and
identify additional technology needs to augment specific categories where
applicable.

- Led efforts to plan and conduct component selection, sourcing, and
qualification testing for Integrated Circuits, Electronic Components, and
PCB.
- Transferred product from concept stage through to production for
implantable class III medical devices.
