Most Recent Field Experience

Castellane, Alpes de Haute de Provence, France – 43 days – 2012. Dissertation Project

Mapped in detail a Mesozoic succession of carbonates 5 Km west of Castellane; recording the newly formed basins created by

the extension of the Tethys Ocean and major thrust faulting, folding and deformation produced by the Alpine orogeny of

Western Europe. Structural establishment, palaeo depositional interpretation, kinematics and tectonic amalgamation were the

basis of the projects, but also featured auxiliary studies of in depth geochemistry analysis and interpretation, mapping and the

construing of surficial deposits and detailed biostratigraphy for relative age prediction.

Sudbury, Ontario, Canada – 11 days – 2012. Adv. Structural Fieldwork

Advanced field mapping techniques predominantly in a deformed metamorphic terrain. Observation and documentation of

geological features at outcrops. Three dimensional modeling and reconstruction of structural geometry. Establishing

overprinting relationships among structures. Kinematic interpretation and tectonic synthesis of geological data at different

scales.

Education + Skills

Prospecting, Production, Extraction and Evaluation Skills

• Professional and academic use in Petrel, Kingdom Suite and Move for petroleum system sub surface modelling.

Exercises have been completed in geological interpretation, deviated well correlations, volumetrics, risk and uncertainty

evaluators and general production enhancements.

• Created geophysical magnetic anomaly models through analysing of data to calculate and map the total magnetic

field fluctuations in the Atlantic Ocean. Used to evaluate and interpret geometrical parameters which could be applied to the

hydrocarbon industry.

• Experience in use and application of GeoScout well log software to interpret oil and gas playfairways via well to well

stratigraphy.

• Undertaken university Georesourses course where we used data to map, risk and evaluate prospected hydrocarbon reservoirs

in a fairly untouched area of the Dutch North Sea using seismic imaging interpretation, contouring, extraction calculation and

analysis. Exercises also included interpreted basin evolution and modelling.

• Competence to use Micro X Ray Diffraction machine to detect the geochemistry of rocks and its micro abundance +

interpreting data using mass spectroscopy.

Additional Data processing and IT Skills

• Experience with data acquisition by conducting electromagnetic, SP, VLF, and resistivity experiments in the field and

creating 2D and 3D interpretive maps using Surfer 8 software.

• ESRI qualification in GIS

• Extensive experience using ArcGIS, Microsoft Office Suite, Open Office Suite; in particular taught myself MS Project for

use of visual demonstration of project management via Gantt Charts.

• Partaken in AAPG Imperial Barrel Award, where I worked in a team to evaluate a site in the Gulf of Mexico. Using only

limited 3D seismic data and wells; we presented to several members of large sized petroleum companies. Extensive use of

Petrel including several extensions, for e.g. PSQL risking.

Management and Organisation Skills

• UoP Leadership and Learning qualification Proof of confidence in presenting, seizing business consultations, ensuring

clear communication in business pitches.

• Presented a detailed self conducted meteor analysis among members of the Canadian Space Agency

• SCQF Level 5, Credit 2 in Outdoor First Aid and Credit 1 in Emergency First Aid at Work

• Key Skills – Demonstration in advanced English literacy and comprehension

• ECDL NVQ: Level 2 – European qualification in ICT; including computer modelling, and complex use of Microsoft Office.

• Clean driving licence (EU).

Previous Work

Pathfinder Corporation Ltd.

accomplishes the success of the company by creating sustainable policies to support local businesses in the

rejuvenation of the Devonport area, Plymouth.

This duty was viewed as a charitable effort and as a result, I did not get paid. We attain pride in seeing the good that

can come out of providing business strategies to local firms and watching them succeed.

Volunteer/ Interests

• Member of Univ. of Western Ontario’s Petroleum Pioneers Society, Univ. of Plymouth’s Geological Society and

Western Ontario’s Outcrop Club.
