Operations Team Chief
Team Chief of the Joint Operations Center (JOC) responsible for providing
the common operating picture for the Chief, National Guard Bureau and the
Joint Chiefs of Staff. Functioned as the primary channel for request for
action and subsequent approval authority for the employment of National
Guard forces for domestic and international contingency operations.
Maintained ultimate situational awareness and managed critical and
essential domestic operations involving National Guard forces in the
conduct of Homeland Security and Crisis operations.
o Selected for and performed in the position prior to being promoted to the
required rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
o The only Team Chief out of four to achieve full certification rating.
o Operations team received the top rating in both performance and training
metrics.
o Attained National Incident Management System qualification through FEMA
o Developed comprehensive cross training plan successfully integrating
Army, Air Force, DA Civilians and Government Contractor personnel.

Responsible for managing a diverse organization of over 2000 personnel
consisting of Special Forces, Aviation, Military Police, Civil Support,
Field Artillery, Military Intelligence and Finance units. Accountable for
all matters concerning human resource management, fiscal year budget,
logistics, training development and standards, and mobilization readiness
of subordinate units. Direct management of a staff of 20 personnel.
o Developed Joint Task Force (JTF) concept and managed the implementation
so that the JTF was fully certified and operational one year ahead of
schedule.
o Received a 95-100% rating during nine Command Maintenance Evaluation
Inspections.
o Successfully mobilized, trained and deployed over 1400 personnel for
Operation Iraqi Freedom.
o Brigade exceeded Commanding Generals goals in all ten Individual Soldier
Readiness metrics
o Reduced NOVAL rate from 3% to 1.2%. Commanding General's goal was 2%.
o Awarded the US Army Meritorious Service Medal
Brigade S1 - Personnel Officer (2005-2008)
Principle Staff Officer for all matters concerning human resources for a
2000 person organization. Responsible for all officer and enlisted
personnel management, maintenance of the unit manning roster, military and
civilian awards program, drug reduction program, safety program, and family
support. Managed the activities of the commander's Special Staff which
included: Public Affairs, Brigade Chaplain, Inspector General, Equal
Opportunity, and Judge Advocate General (JAG).
o Reduced delinquent evaluation reports from 150 to six.
o Improved completion rate of annual dental exams and physicals from 50% to
93%.
o Implemented individual personnel readiness tracker which resulted in
reducing the number of non-deployable personnel by 88%.
o Planned and conducted Critical Personnel Area workshops for subordinate
units resulting in significant improvements in all personnel readiness
categories

United states army 1991-2005
Logistics Officer, Platoon Leader, Company Commander, Staff Officer
Led, trained, supervised, and mentored up to 500 soldiers of various rank
and ability. Active duty from 1991-2003, active duty with the National
Guard from 2003 to 2013.
o 1993, Developed and implemented aggressive aviation night vision goggle
(NVG) training program taking platoon from no night flying capability to
fully operational NVG unit within five months.
o 1994, Managed an aircraft maintenance service program that became the
model for the 18th Aviation Brigade due to unit aircraft consistently
exceeding Department of the Army aircraft operational readiness rate
standards.
o 1995, Selected as the Fort Bragg ROTC Camp All-American aviation officer.
Responsible for managing all XVIII Airborne Corps aviation support
missions of 2500 cadre and general staff officers utilizing five
different airframes as well as programming the time sequence of the air
assault exercise for eight cadet regiments.
o 1996, Commanded aviation unit which received 7 commendable area ratings
and an overall Outstanding rating from a TRADOC Aviation Resource and
Management Survey. Awarded Army Commendation Medal.
o 1999, Served as battalion operations officer responsible for all air
traffic control operations at the US Army Aviation War-fighting Center
which utilized 25% of the US Army's flying hour program and nearly 50% of
the US Army's annual aircraft movements with no serious incidents or loss
of life.
o 2000, Officer in charge of the Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course. Created
and managed a system to accurately track the progress of 16 flight school
classes of over 450 lieutenants in different levels and phases of
training while successfully integrating the Flight School XXI concept.
o 2001, Handpicked by the 87th division commander to lead the 3rd Brigade
Mobilization Assistance Team. Responsible for leading and mentoring
reserve component units from home station mobilization to post
mobilization validation in support of operations NOBLE EAGLE and ENDURING
FREEDOM.
o 2003-2005, Chief of Officer Recruiting exceeded yearly recruiting goals
by 200% for two consecutive years.
