Experience
T r imble Navigation, M il ita ry Sr. H a rdware Design Engineer May 2013 - Present
a nd Advanced Systems
D ivision
• Performed the digital design of the newest product of the Force5 family, a M ili tary GPS receiver
board, including PCB Schematics and FPGA fi rmware development.
Booz Allen H amilton Associate / Sr. Cyber November 2010 – May 2013
Technology Engineer
• Performed Security analyses on C/C++ (GPP and DSP) and Verilog/VHDL (FPGA) code to detect
possible vulnerabilities in the Software Defined Radios for the JTRS program.
• Supported SRW RIL Team by performing Content management (software build verifications,
document reviews, software baseline management, SwISS contractor support, Deficiency Reports
revision and characterization) on the Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW) for the JTRS program.
• Supported Independent Verification and Validation (IV &V) activities for JTRS certification of
Vendors’ radios.
• Performed IA Assessments to JTRS Radios software baseline (C/C++ for General Purpose
p rocessors and DSPs and Verilog/VHDL for FPGAs) in support of their NSA Type-1 Certification.
• Performed CDRL Reviews to support the NSA client in the certification process of JTRS Radios.
• As a FPGA Development Subject Matter Expert (SME), t rained colleagues in performing IA
Assessments of FPGA code and CDRL reviews. Streamlined and improved the IA Assessment
p rocess to provide a better quality and more in depth analyses of the VHDL and Verilog codes.
General Dynamics Robotic Staff H a rdware Engineer August 2008 – October 2010
Systems
• Performed hardware partition and design of the Recognition, Surveillance and Target Acquisition
(RSTA) gimbal part of the GDRS autonomous navigation system equipment.
• Developed hardware circuit ry (analog and digital) for Very Low Cost LADAR (VLDL) program.
• Designed Test boards and test plans for the automated production of Image Perception Modules
(B&W and Color and IR cameras cluster) that is part of the sensor payload of the Autonomous
Navigation System (ANS) program funded by the US Army.
• Supported the development of an IR &D funded 7-meter vessel for autonomous navigation. The
t asks consisted in defining the location and architecture of the sensor system, its wi ring and
i ntegration with the rest of the processing equipment.
I n H and Electronics Senior H a rdware Engineer July 2006 – July 2008
• Completed several products from conception to production for the standard product lineup of single
board computers (Fingertip4, Fingertip5) based on In tel/Marvel PXA processor line.
• Developed several custom boards and provided customer and program management support. As
part of this activity, I led a team of multi-disciplined engineers and technicians in the design and
a rchitecture of a valve diagnosis Inst rumentation system to be used during the diagnosis and
refurbishment of Nuclear Power plants.
• Supported the U L, FCC and TEMPEST certifications of several of the boards produced, for both
s tandard and custom products.
• Participated in the definit ion of Level of Effort estimates to aide in the preparation of business
p roposals for several key projects.
RBC Product Development Senior H a rdware Engineer November 2005 – July 2006
• Design and In-House test of an implantable, multi wavelength Pulse Oxymeter.
• Designed User Interface hardware system for a lesion generator (single board computer, LCD
d isplay, visual indicators and manual controls). The product was then used for clinical t r ials and
subsequently mass-produced.
• Supported FDA, IEC-60601, 510K certification of the products developed.
General Dynamics Robotic Senior H a rdware Engineer March 2004 – October 2005
Systems
• Participated to the design and development of the Body Borne Electronics part of the Future Force
Warrior program. This included a power distribution and battery management unit, network
management and distribution Unit, wrist display and head’s up display all interconnected within a
m ulti-protocol Personal Area Network, capable to support graceful degradation in case of
malfunction.
• In terviewed candidates for positions in the company’s engineering teams.
Applied Data Systems (now Senior H a rdware Engineer December 2000 – Ma rch 2004
E urotech)
• Designed Intel StrongARM and PXA based embedded systems including User interfaces, LCD
d isplays and controls.
• Led a team of multi-disciplined engineers and technicians through a successful deployment of 1500
Phraselators (Handheld phrase t ranslator devices) during the Gulf War (in I raq, Kuwait and
A fghanistan). This project started in the back of a napkin, during a meeting with the client that
had a problem he wanted to solve, continued through quick tu rn prototypes, large production and
ended with its deployment in theater, all in 135 days.
• Supported design and development of several standard products (Bitsy, BitsyX, AGX, VGX).
• Led the development and client support on Point of Service equipment (ATM) that was successfully
deployed across ATM sites in the US.
• In terviewed candidates for positions in the company’s engineering teams, with emphasis on their
hardware and software development skills.
