Segment Quality Compliance Manager – DTR, Schlumberger (5/12 to Present)

Responsible for the Service and Product Quality functions for a $1.5 Billion revenue Business Segment. Set

the long term quality improvement strategy and KPOs (Key Performance Objectives). Manage the API and

ISO certifications for our 115 global locations by developing the QMS (Quality Management System) and

enforcing procedural discipline to bring consistency in operations worldwide. Developed culture of

reporting failures, followed by investigation, root cause analysis and remedial work plans.

Director – Knowledge Management Integration – Schlumberger (1/11 to 5/12)

Led the Knowledge Management (KM) integration effort for the legacy Smith (20,000 employees)

organization after the merger with Schlumberger. Implemented KM systems globally focused on the flow

of information through the organization, including communities of practice, bulletin boards, individual

profiles and internal wiki pages. Presented the best practices for at APQC annual conference in Houston.

Director – Technology Research – Smith Oilfield Segment (12/08 to 12/10)

Highlighted the need for increased Innovation across the company and created key strategic innovation

initiatives that made it more systemic and predictable. Recognized by the CEO for the success and also

published and presented paper on Innovation at ATCE, Italy in September, 2010.

Supply Chain Leadership for SmartSource Project

Simultaneously, asked to lead a Supply chain sourcing project initiated by top management. Directed the

cross-functional team of buyers, supply chain managers, manufacturing managers, engineers and

procurement experts on Carbide and Steel raw materials. Dramatically revised the operations model and

went through RFP and RFQ process with over 30 global suppliers, followed up with detailed negotiation

and contracts. Captured $3.2 Million in immediate savings.

Director – Technical Services – Smith Services (2/08 to 11/08)

Envisioned a global Technical Support Organization for the business segment and developed a strategy for

implementation. Created North American, Middle Eastern & African support organizations, recruiting and

placing over 35 engineers in the field supported by technical hubs in Dubai and Houston. Group has since

become an integral part of the operational organization and now grown to over 70 engineers worldwide.

Director – Training & Career Development – Smith Technologies (5/06 to 2/08)

Responsible for the internal and customer training needs, managing a $1.8 Million budget. Built a

cohesive training team of 11 professional trainers placed worldwide. Expanded customer training

programs, built organization structure to position regional technical training worldwide, increased use of

electronic training media through web development and online training programs.

Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Program

Completely revamped EIT program for entry-level engineers, revising curriculum and calendar, growing

the program from one that graduated 8 engineers a year, to close to 40 engineers per year.

Global Training Program

Created a new program to take technical training to regional locations worldwide. 2 week training

program of introductory and advanced level classes that were taught in local offices. Trained over 100

internal personnel in Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Aberdeen and Rio with my technical training team.

Business Strategy

Worked on various business strategy studies with Vice-President for Mergers & Acquisitions and top

management. One of the top few managers selected to work on a project to evaluate the Integrated

Services market. Project lead to the multi-million dollar acquisition of WH Energy Services.

Project Engineer - Sr. Engineering Manager – Smith Technologies (6/96 to 5/06)

10 years in R&D, Design and Product Development. Started as a Project Engineer for the Mining division

and eventually was responsible for the Design group as a Senior Engineering Manager for the company.

Planned, managed, and controlled product development for Roller Cone product line. Translated

NPD (New Product Development) goals into specific tasks and objectives for my team of seven engineers.

Created measurement matrix to align performance and rewards, and conducted various motivational

exercises for the group.

IDEAS Design Development & Deployment

Deployed the IDEAS Bit Design Process, which lead to the launch of the most successful roller cone

product line at Smith Bits, generating over $90 million in revenue since 2001.

TWIST & SHOUT Product Line

Conceived the product line concept, and then created and lead a 36 member project team. Product was

launched in October 2001, generating over $12 million in revenue since.

Product Development for Europe

Tasked with improving product performance, and technical image of Smith Bits in Europe. Project lead to

a $6 million dollar, 3-year contract with Norsk Hydro in Norway, and market penetration in Denmark.
