As a safety professional I have successfully worked to completion various

complex projects for a number of organizations. These have been (4 years) in the field of

LNG/OIL, Mining Maintenance, General Engineering, Mining Construction and Civil and

general construction. Along with these works I have also consulted and taught OHS in the RTO

industry (6 years Holmesglen TAFE), Consulted HSE in the Maritime Industry, this has opened

up avenues to train, process, and set teaching /training programs to be instilled into the trade

sector of the workforce. I have been involved in the daily running of safety management teams,

developed specific training programs, undertaken audits/hazard assessments, and the

development and implementation of safety management systems that are specific to the client/ all

stakeholder’s needs and requirements.

- Be conversant with legislation relating to occupational health and safety a workers

compensation in order to…

- Liaise with and provide advise to Managers, Supervisors and Leading Hands regarding

occupational health, safety, workers compensation, injury management, accident prevention

and welfare;

- Liaise with treating doctors, health professionals and workers compensation claims

department to ensure effective early intervention treatment and return to work for all injured

employees;

- Oversee and advise on the use of job rotation, exercise program and alternate/selected

duties;

- Liaise and coordinate the Training Officer/OHS&WCM department manager to inform

employees at induction of the health hazards of their work and the SOP’s for their specific

tasks;

- Assist in the completion of incident report forms and assist the OHS&WCM and/or area

Supervisor/Department Manager and OHS Consultative Committee members with an incident

investigation;

- Assist in all OH&S training programs including manual handling techniques, accident

prevention, first aid, use of personal protective equipment and chemicals;

- Assist OHS&WCM and Manager/Supervisor with worksite assessments to identify,

monitor and evaluate potential workplace hazards;

- Advise line managers and engineers on OHSMS requirements for purchasing plant,

equipment designs, installation, commissioning and demolition, the purchase of appropriate

personal protective equipment and clothing;

- Assist and where appropriate initiate site hazard/risk assessments;

- Recommend appropriate control measures designed to eliminate or minimize hazards;

- Participate in the health and safety committee as a Management Representative;

- Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with OHSMS requirements,

statutory, organization and ethical requirements;

- Assist Plant Engineer, Maintenance staff and Contractors with timely advice and

assistance with risk assessment, interpretation of standards and work method statements;

- Ensure that design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, demolition and de-

commissioning processes, including products, materials, plant and facilities are compliant to

legislative requirements and conform to OHSMS specification.
