“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are” - a quotation from Theodore
Roosevelt, is my recipe for success. Appointed full-time manager of a chain restaurant
while in high school, I still graduated with my high school diploma. The experience
taught me hard work is rewarding.
Face-to-face customer service is a win-win opportunity, for the customer to make
concerns known, and for the vendor to resolve those concerns. The focused give-and-take
builds respect, trust, and loyalty, a solid foundation for a long-term, profitable. business
relationship.
For example, servicing a territory spanning Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, I had
grown my business from one to six hospital accounts in Winnipeg alone. Across the
entire territory, sales and profitability returns have virtually doubled, in three years.
That growth reflects my work ethic, endless travel, and technical proficiency, as much as
my ability to schmooze customers. Being available and reliable, monitoring changes at
each account, keeps me ahead of the curve, and responsive to my customers’ needs, and
they value that.
I enjoy canvassing new clients, tailoring my solutions to their situations, and winning
orders. As a sales consultant, I opened a successful branch office for a BC office supply
firm. When the parent company closed, I was able to retain and build on my personal
customer base, as an independent supplier, for several prosperous years. I am equally
effective in a corporate boardroom, or directing an installation, hands-on, in a client’s
facility.
Personal service is the key: my flexibility in adapting corporate purchases to the needs
and tastes of individual end users, builds lasting satisfaction and positive feedback. Allied
with a major supplier, I won a major contract to supply the City of Kelowna, after a year
of intense negotiation, fending off serious competitive challenges. The relationship
created with that contract is still flourishing.
Accomplishments with Johnson Diversey included supervisor/Manager course in
Toronto, as well as qualified for 2009 Presidents Club and a trip to Panama City, Panama
My résumé details my education, experience, and problem solving and people skills. I am
committed to exceed your expectations at every opportunity. I will serve you very well.
Yours truly,
Ken Thomas
