Planner, Controller, and stand up shift manager

From May 2005, until Apr 2011 I was employed by Group 4 Securicor, Care and Justice

Services, at City Place Gatwick. The department was concerned with the movement of

I mmigration Detainees to and from Ports and detention centres to other centres, Courts,

Prisons, and points of departure. I was primarily employed as a planner and my duties

included;

1 Collate national availability of vehicles and crews.

2 Ensure that requested moves are allocated to appropriate crews.

3 Ensure all tasks are accurately recorded on paper and IT records.

4 Ensure that an effective handover is prepared for the next shift.

5 Liase with the customer and regional depots to discuss and rectify anomalies.

6 Prioritise all work in accordance with contractual obligations.

7 To act as Operational Shift Manager, when the usual incumbent was on

Holiday etc.

The company lost the contract as at 01 May and I was transferred to the new company,

Reliance Security, under the TUPE Regulations. Reliance transferred the Department

from Gatwick to Heathrow and this made the hours untenable,

1998 to 2005

Operations Clerk

From Oct 1998 until May 2005 I was employed by Hays Logistics, and later Palmer and

H arvey L td, at a Tobacco and confectionary distribution centre in Crawley. I worked

rotating Shifts in the Operations room, and my duties involved all aspects of paperwork

i nvolved in the assembly and delivery of orders. The job involved the use of company

specific software (logistar ) as well as MS Office.

EARLIER CAREER

I served in the Army from 1972 until 1987, attaining the Rank of SSGT in the

Intelligence Corps.. I have worked for several companies, usually logistics businesses in

an administrative capacity.
