HISTORY

I have a total of 20 years construction experience. Over 16 of the 20

years I have been in a leadership position. My background includes

commercial, heavy highway and the wind industries. In addition, I also

have 10 years experience in military leadership. My post-secondary

education is in business management and accounting which has benefited me

greatly in understanding, executing, and reporting the financial aspects of

construction. My goal is to secure a Traveling Superintendent position in

the construction industry with a reputable and established contractor. I

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

. Contracts

o Read and understand the impact of contract language on scope of

work and project schedule.

o Extract the critical construction dates and milestones from the

contract and other supporting documents.

o Interpret and understand the division of obligations and

responsibilities for all entities as defined by the contract.

. Scheduling and Planning

o Build individual craft and subcontractor schedules to coincide

with overall project schedule.

o Ensure that project schedule along with all subordinate

schedules meet all contract dates and milestones.

o Monitor and adjust schedules as required to compensate for any

unforeseen changes or issues.

. Project Budget

o Allocate manpower and other resources to reflect line item costs

in overall project budget.

o Constantly monitor actual construction costs against cost code

bid totals and make adjustments as necessary.

. Reporting

o Accurately report all quantities produced along with related

costs.

o Report daily to management on all project activities and issues.

. Plans and Specifications

o Read and accurately interpret all blueprints, plans, shop

drawings and supporting documents.

o Plan and implement the most efficient construction methods and

processes per plan specifications.

o Coordinate with owners and engineers to resolve any plan

discrepancies in a mutually beneficial manner.

o Ensure all work is completed in compliance with all plan

specifications.

. Safety

o Ensure all employees and subcontractors are performing work in

the safest manner possible.

o Educate and train subordinate supervisors and employees on new

technologies and techniques to improve their safety.

o Monitor all work processes to make sure they are in compliance

with all applicable corporate and regulatory safety standards.

. Personnel Management

o Determine project personnel requirements based on scope of work

and schedule.

o Hire and assign personnel, matching their skill set to project

needs.

o Ensure that all employee training and certification is completed

and documented in accordance with corporate policy and

regulatory compliance.

o Address and report all employee issues to include both favorable

and unfavorable actions.

. Subcontractors

o Establish subcontractor scope of work and schedule to support

project schedule.

o Ensure subcontractor compliance with all applicable corporate

and regulatory policies and procedures.

o Mediate and resolve scope of work, scheduling, contractual and

any other subcontractor disputes.

. Owners

o Daily interaction with owners to address their needs and

concerns.

o Resolve contract and scope of work discrepancies with owner as

necessary.

o Establish and execute change orders with owners to reflect

changes in scope of work.

. Vendors

o Approve and select equipment and material vendors in compliance

with corporate policy and project requirements.

o Establish vendor delivery schedules based on project

requirements and schedule.

o Audit vendor invoices for accuracy of price and terms.

Position: Structures/Erection Superintendent

As a Structures Superintendent for D.H. Blattner my duties include, but are

not limited to, the following: responsible for safe working conditions and

safety procedures on the project. Enforce company, federal and state

safety regulations on site and discuss concerns with Project Manager and

Risk Management Director. Coordinate subcontractors to maximize production

and minimize costs. Conduct performance appraisals of direct subordinates

and documents employee assessments and warning. Recognize, train, coach

and provide proper performance feedback to star performers to qualify

candidates as possible successors to Superintendent and Foreperson

positions. Supervise all Field Engineers and Forepersons (Mechanics,

Monitor short interval planning to avoid re-work and double handling of

materials. Communicate and negotiate with owner regarding major project

decisions; resolve communication problems with owner, subcontractors and

vendors before they contribute to problems. Inform the Project Manager to

update him on project problem areas. Responsible for hiring, promoting and

laying off all project employees. Properly utilize company policies for

handling complaints, eliminating harassment, and assuring non-

discriminatory actions among all workers. Support economic conditions by

hiring locally and attending public information meetings. Supervise more

than one job concurrently, or a single large job, which involves

supervising other superintendents. Knowledgeable about bidding process

which enables me to "look at work" to be bid. Supervise a large number of

employees. Thorough knowledge of equipment uses and limitations. Good

communication skills to deal with owners, subcontractors, vendors and

employees.

Position: Bridge Construction Superintendent

Nov 04 - Sep 05

While employed as a Bridge Superintendent with Capital my duties included

the following: Planning and scheduling the bridge construction operations

to coincide with the overall schedule of the entire roadway project.

Ordered materials and equipment to support the various construction

operations. Used the applicable instruments to layout and establish the

necessary excavations, piling, formwork, girders, roadway slope, etc.

Coordinated with the NDOR on material certifications, inspections and

change orders to ensure that the work was being built according to the

appropriate specifications. Coordinated with other subcontractors on the

project. Coordinated construction operations with local utilities,

government entities and businesses. Hired, trained and managed craft

people as required by the workload. Kept detailed records of all aspects

of the construction project. Accurately allocated man hours, materials,

equipment usage and all other expenses to the appropriate job cost code.

While employed as a Superintendent for Luxa Construction my duties included

all of those with Capital Contracting including the following:

Selected, estimated and bid roadway projects which fit the company's

philosophy. Reviewed and selected contracts with subcontractors and

suppliers. Created a critical path schedule to include all subcontract work

for roadway projects. Prepared and conducted pre-construction meetings

with state personnel, subcontractors, utilities, local government and

anyone else affected by the project. Coordinated bridge construction and

all other subcontractor work to ensure timely completion of the project.

Reviewed pay estimates for accuracy and approve sub-contractor and supplier

payments. All other duties as assigned by Luxa Construction.

Hawkins Construction

While employed as a Concrete Foreman with Hawkins Construction, my duties

included the following: Read and interpreted blueprints for bridge

construction. Managed and lead three to five man crew in forming, pouring,

finishing and stripping all substructure and superstructure concrete.

materials, equipment and manpower to ensure work was completed safely,

within specifications and on time. Coordinated all construction activities
