MECHANICAL FIELD ENGINEER (HYDRO) 2012-present
Bechtel Corporation, Spring City, Tennessee
TVA's Watts Bar Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 2 (WBNU2) - As a test director,
planned and managed ASME III/ANSI B31.1 test packages and work orders
associated with the hydrostatic and pneumatic testing of installed piping,
process equipment, components, instrumentation and instrument panel tubing.
Performed calculations, drawings and all paperwork required for testing
and qualification of nuclear piping performance tests. Acceptance for
quality was over 97% for 7 safety-related systems completed in one year
with the last two systems completed in a compact schedule under extreme
pressure. Currently the project is at 24.7 million man-hours without a
lost time accident. Provided guidance and mentoring to junior level
engineers with regard to process engineering and engineering fundamentals.
MECHANICAL ENGINEER 2012
InSpec, Inc., Portland, Oregon (Through AeroTek Staffing)
Under contract to Daikin America, Decatur, AL, provided engineering
specifications for equipment and instrumentation for an $85 million
project. Specified and ordered major equipment, all instrumentation (over
2000 items) and managed vendor interface prior to installation of equipment
for operation. Managed and reviewed P&IDs and construction of over 17,428
linear feet of piping and tubing in a newly constructed PTFE building.
Performed lead engineering duties in the PTFE building construction while
managing equipment delivery and assurance that each piece of equipment
conformed to contract and technical specifications.
RESIDENT CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER 2003-2009
Inter-Consult, Inc., Knoxville, TN
Worked under contract to Anheuser Busch, Baldwinsville NY as Owner's
representative in the design, procurement, completion and start-up of
upgraded and newly installed plant systems. Duties included estimating,
budgeting, accounting, design, equipment procurement and construction/start-
up of major capital packaging, brewing, buildings and grounds, process
utilities, sewers, warehouse, and waste water projects. Managed both field
and design engineers, as well as, pipefitters, electricians, millwrights,
general contractors and programmers. Performed process close-out of all
piping systems on major capital improvement projects. Managed all on-site
Inter-Consult, Inc. personnel including engineers and senior CAD designers
in the areas of appraisals, accounting and payroll. Certified in OSHA 10-
hour and scaffold erection training certificates, as well as, Hazardous
Chemical Transfer and Storage Training.
PACKAGING DEPARTMENT MANAGER 2001-2003
Technical Associates, Atlanta, GA
As the department manager, provided engineering services for packaging
lines at The Coca-Cola Company beverage and juice manufacturer facilities
across North America. Developed line design changes incorporating robots
into assembly lines to replace operators. Managed equipment procurement
and construction/start-up of all department projects, multiple project
implementations, personnel related activities and budget management from
estimating thru invoicing. Authored comprehensive packaging equipment
standards and specifications. Managed design engineers in the completion
of numerous projects simultaneously. Clients included Coca-Cola, Clorox,
Minute Maid and M & M Mars.
sENIOR Project manager Technical Associates, Atlanta, GA 2000 - 2001
Managed packaging and process related projects. Developed four major
projects consisting of packaging lines at various plant locations. Also
managed the development of a 75-gallon beverage container filling line and
a centralized box forming of corrugated cartons for Coca-Cola. Other
projects included feasibility studies, engineering design, project costing,
and capital project request preparation for new beverage product,
pasteurization of citrus based product, agitation in numerous holding tanks
and warehouse racking and storage project. A city water main project
provided all incoming water for a major beverage facility from the city
water supply. This project included permitting and coordinating project
details with The City of Atlanta Water Department.
ANHEUSER-BUSCH, INC., Baldwinsville, NY 1997 - 2000
Senior Project Manager of 50-plus projects in the areas of waste-water
treatment, packaging, brewing, warehouse & utilities. Performed
estimating, budgeting, accounting, design and construction functions.
Governmental regulations for waste treatment projects required coordination
with the New York State DEC. Packaging projects included conveying,
ergonomics, warehousing and efficiency improvements. Brewing and process
projects included modifications of major vessels, piping & vessel
sanitation, railcar unloading & track improvements. Waste water treatment
experience included upgrades of major pieces of equipment, piping and valve
replacements while plant operations remained fully functional.
LOCKWOOD GREENE ENGINEERS, Atlanta, GA 1994 - 1997
Start-up Engineer assigned to Anheuser-Busch Williamsburg, Virginia brewing
modernization project; a $200+ million project to update and expand
capacities. Managed construction coordination and support, including
process equipment check-out & debug, computer training of brewing
personnel, direction and monitoring of processes, with technical assistance
to brewing, maintenance & operations departments on a daily basis.
Plant Project Engineer assigned to Anheuser-Busch Cartersville, Georgia
Engineering & Maintenance Department. Designed numerous cost savings,
ergonomic and operational enhancements for the packaging and maintenance
departments. Managed plant and corporate generated projects including
engineering studies, design & modification, as well as, accounting and
funding requests from project inception to completion.
Lead Project Engineer for the Anheuser-Busch Williamsburg, Virginia and
Jacksonville, Florida, Packaging Modernization Projects. Responsibilities
included project and technical leadership of two $65-million projects,
coordination of inter-discipline group activities and liaison to Anheuser-
Busch for progress updates. Provided technical guidance, equipment
selection & details with design parameters to multiple disciplines while
monitoring the operational effectiveness of the design.
Project Engineer to Campbell Taggart, bakery division of Anheuser-Busch,
for Refrigeration Enhancement Projects in Southeastern Region Facilities.
Responsibilities included project design, cost estimating and unique
refrigeration systems for each project facility.
Project Engineer to General Mills Covington, Georgia cereal plant to
provide engineering studies and designs to modify existing surge storage
and packaging bins and line layouts.
MILLER BREWING COMPANY, Albany, Georgia 1986-1994
Interim Resident Engineer leading a department of ten while successfully
managing a capital projects budget of $5,800,000+. Coordinated Buildings &
Grounds, Project Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Drafting Services
efforts while concurrently providing project engineering and management.
Presented details of projects for funding at annual budget meeting to
Miller Brewing Company Vice Presidents and board members.
Senior Mechanical Engineer completing over 200 projects in the areas of
packaging, distribution, waste water, brewing, utilities and safety.
Prepared annual capital budget of $5,500,000 for the Albany Plant while
providing $12,750,000 in cost savings / staffing reductions. Plant project
leader of new product innovation which received the DuPont Package of the
