Assisted in initial autism evaluations and saw all follow ups. Conducted full neurological evaluation,
including lab, MRI &/or EEG. Taught autism education, behavioral management/counseling and initiated
therapies necessary for early intervention. Medication management. (Left for an offer to participate in a
new, private developmental interdisciplinary team that included NICU grads, as well as autism patients.)
3. Pediatric Behavior & Developmental Nurse and Fe eding Team Coordinator; Wilford Hall Medical
Center (WHMC); Lackland AFB, TX (Contractor: RLM, Inc. January 2007 – May 2008. Military transferred
contract to Angel Staffing; May 2008 –October 2009.) Developed an early nursing intervention
screening/triage program for all Behavior & Developmental pediatric patients at WHMC. This included
initial in-depth history of family dynamics, psycho-social needs, and comprehensive medical and genetic
history. Coordinated care of patients from Southwest TRICARE region (Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana,
Mississippi, & Georgia.) Initial intake included child developmental testing, MASQ, Child Depression
Inventories, BCBL, etc. Shepherded child/family into developmental services and therapies. Taught autism
education and assisted with support groups and all case management of families with special needs.
Conducted in-services for Pediatric nurses to understand how to work most effectively with ASD, ID and
DD patients. Spoke at resource fairs and addressed parent-support groups to encourage early detection and
management of ASD. Worked with school's IEP's, transitions to high school and beyond. ( Returned to
school to pursue Master’s Degree in Nursing & PNP in order to help children with special needs).
