PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

May 2005 - May 2006: Internship in Medicine, Surgery, & Allied Specialties

at Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore

September 2009 - February 2010 - Medical Officer of Community Health and

Training Centre, Mugalur, the rural field practice area and training centre

of Department of Community Health, St. John's Medical College, Bangalore.

Located around 40 km from Bangalore, it caters to a population of around

30,000 persons from nearly 30 surrounding rural areas. As Resident Medical

Officer of the centre, gained administrative, treatment skills and

facilitated implementation of several rural health programs and research

activities

March 2008 - March 2011 - Postgraduate Resident & Tutor Demonstrator,

Department of Community Health, St. John's Medical College, Bangalore

June 2011 - November 2012 - Senior Resident, St. John's Medical College &

Research Institute, Bangalore

December 2012 - till date - Assistant Professor, Subbaiah Institute of

Medical Sciences, Shimoga, Karnataka, India.

EXPERIENCE IN COMMUNITY HEALTH ACTIVITIES

I joined the Department of Community Health, St. John's Medical College on

17th of March 2008 and completed my post-graduation in May 2011. Since

then, I was involved in all the activities running in the Department.

The activities that I was involved during my post-

graduation include:

1. I co-ordinated the functioning and participated in the following

projects:

a. Programme for the prevention of hearing (Ashadhwani) and visual

impairment (Dhrishti) in rural Karnataka.

b. Programme for the care of Senior Citizens called the Senior Citizen's

Health Services. This programme caters to the health needs of the senior

citizens both in rural and urban areas of Bangalore.

c. Programme for improving Maternal and Child Health. This programme

takes care of the antenatal and postnatal women and under-five children

including their immunization. I have conducted 30 deliveries during my

tenure as a Resident Medical Officer at RHTC, St. John's Hospital.

d. Programme for the care of patients with mental illness in

rural Karnataka called the Maanasi project.

e. Growth Monitoring of the under-six children attending Anganwadis in

Rural Karnataka.

f. Annual School Health Appraisals of both rural and urban schools.

2. I participated in the management of disasters in the flood-hit-

underserved areas of Bihar in the month of September 2008 for a period of

15 days.

4. I also participated in conducting the Health and Welfare Audit at the

Tea Plantations, Kadamane in Rural Karnataka, in February 2010.

5. I have had the unique experience of being the Resident

Medical Officer of the Community Health and Training Centre, (Rural

health centre of the Department of Community Health, St. John's

Medical College) and running the centre successfully for a period of 6

months.

After Post graduation I was extensively involved in Research in the field

of HIV and Cardiovascular Disease.
