Professional Experience
American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM) Detroit, MI
Engineer/ Supervisor/ Central Maintenance Manager 2004-
2009
Business Owner
2009-Present
Managed axle manufacturing system installations and modifications, axle
assembly lines, carrier assembly lines, machining centers, as well as
coolant and chip handling systems. Participated in product launch of hypoid
gear sets, axle assembly (9.5; 8.6) new installations and process upgrades.
This includes robotic transfers, vision system, PLC upgrades with feed back
loop to improve process control and quality.
Directly supervised the machining of 7.25; 8.25; 8.6; 9.5; 10.5 hypoid
gears set operations, including heat treat, shot peening requirements and
part quality.
Managed the operation and maintenance of the Waste Water Treatment Plant,
Chilled Water Plant, Electrical Distribution Center, HVAC units, Fire
Protections, Site Security System, emergency generators, and compressed
air. Appointed Site Energy Reduction Champion in July 2008. Coordinated
with each plant to develop a system of energy conservation to reduce the
usage of electrical, steam, natural gas, city water, and compressed air for
the site. Lead site teams to overall utility usage reduction of $2 million
in 6 months. Reduced the overall energy/utility usage $1.4 million in first
quarter of 2009.
Area Manager
2003-2004
Managed site manufacturing, maintenance, and quality control for 350
associates. Successfully met or exceeded all manufacturing and quality
targets in all areas. Lead a team to evaluate and increase productivity of
the pinion process. Increased manufacturing average of pinions by 35
percent.
Labor Manager
2001-2003
Successfully negotiated and implemented new UAW local contract with shop
committee. New contract improved the company cost position by $2 million
through revision of the attendance policy, overtime equalization, relaxed
lines of demarcation, and reduction of skilled-trade classifications.
Business Planner
1999-2000
Developed and executed plant strategic business plan and the successful
launch of all new products. Actively participated in company merger and
acquisition team. Responsible for company research data and process
technology evaluations.
Manufacturing Area Manager
1997-1998
Managed plant manufacturing, maintenance, and quality control for forging
operations. Lead a cross-functional team to redesign die lubricant system
and maximize die life and connecting rod press-up time. Increased
connecting rod manufacturing average from 55,000 to 70,000 per day.
Program Manager, Sales (Auburn Hills, MI)
1996-1997
Responsible for obtaining and managing customer contracts for $200 million
in sales for passenger car components and service parts. Increased service
parts revenue by 40%. Obtained 10 million in new vehicle component sales.
