SELECT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
. Directed and implemented a $5 million federal grant to develop new system
of care for two counties through the local Community Mental Health Center
in North Carolina. This grant resulted in increased services to clients;
more relevant and effective services to the families of two counties;
illuminated the gaps in services that became the basis for the following
year's service and budget plans. This system became a model for other
counties in NC who followed this example in their own counties. Selected
to partake in the outcome evaluation in those counties.
. Performed extensive grant-writing resulting in a $1000 grant for children-
at-risk which provided enough materials for a year of service.
Additional grants helped to secure mental health services for communities
such as safe houses in northern Minnesota to obtain material for work
with inner city children labeled with emotional/behavioral disorders, and
to obtain funds for transitional housing for homeless families.
. Developed behavioral intervention plans and crisis intervention
programming for children in inner cities.
. Developed tools, medication groups, to facilitate and improve
effectiveness of client visits with psychiatrists, resulting in much more
cost-effectiveness to Center.
. Designated Local Mental Health Authority for nine nursing homes, rest
homes and facilities for a geographically large rural Minnesota county.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Psychiatric Social Work
. Administered complete case management in children's mental health and
after-hours response crisis unit.
. Facilitated teaching as well as individual and group counseling sessions.
. Received recognition from physicians for developing mental status
assessment tool utilized by chronically ill patients that increased
efficiency.
. Increased effectiveness of medication evaluation interviews by
participating in developing questionnaire.
