Research Experience:
During my research career I have been involved in various research projects which include:
August 2003- March 2004: (8 Months)
Involved in Department of Biotechnology (DBT), funded project “Tissue culture studies in
tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum)” from Government of India to Kakatiya University where I
got expertise in various plant tissue culture techniques.
October 2006- March 2007: (6 Months)
Masters thesis in Shantha Biotechniques (SANOFI) titled “Cloning of the 5’ portion of 342 bp
of the Alcohol Oxidase gene of Shantha4 in E. coli”. My tasks included construction and
analysis of recombinant molecules, where I got expertise in various molecular biology
techniques.
October 2007- December 2007: (2 Months)
Trained in CHANDRA LABS, Hyderabad for Analytical Testing: FT-IR Spectroscopy, Gas
Chromatography (G.C) and High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
July 2008 – September 2009: (1 Year 3 months)
Worked as Research assistant at the Laboratory for Molecular Ophthalmology, Justus Liebig
University Giessen. My tasks included analysis of LCA genes specially Cloning and recombinant
protein expression studies.
October 2009 – Febraury 2014: (4 years 5 months)
Since October 2009 working as a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Markus Preising, my
PhD thesis “Expression patterns of AIPL1 Splice variants in relation to Centromere protein
F” deals with functional studies of genetic disorders related to the retina. The main focus of
project is identifying novel interaction partners of Aryl hydrocarbon interacting protein like 1
(AIPL1) and the role of interaction in LCA (Lebers Congenital Amaurosis) which falls under
the cluster of EOSRD (Early Onset of Severe Retinal Dystrophy). Practical aspects of my project
include Molecular Cloning, heterologous expression, Animal cell culture, protein purification
assays and interaction studies.
Animal experience:
Experience in handling animal models Mouse & Rat.
Perfusion studies, isolation of Brain and Eyes from Mouse & Rat.
Isolation of Retina and immunohistochemical studies.
Computer skills:
Familiar with the following softwares: Vector NTI, MERLIN, pDRAW32, GENtle, CLC Main
Workbench 6, BioEdit, Ball view, Chromas Lite, ClustalW, SAS, End notex, Citavi, Unicorn,
Image J, SigmaPlot and GraphPad Prism.
Achievements:
Got selected twice for DAAD Scholarship and support program (STIBET) teaching
assistantship program 2010 and 2011.
Other Experience:
Worked as Organizing committee member for the International Giessen Graduate School
for the Life Sciences (GGL) conferences 2009 and 2010 Giessen, Germany.
Worked as Organizing committee member for EPOS 2010 36th Annual Meeting of the
European Paediatric Ophthalmological Society, New Challenges in Paediatric
Ophthalmology meeting held in Bad Nauheim, Germany.
Ran an institute Phoenix coaching center to train bachelor students for their competitive
exams. My role includes teaching Molecular biology, Biochemistry and organizing
activities of the institute.
Volunteered an institute Transcend educational consultancy to provide guidance for
bachelor students from rural areas in India in opting there PG courses offered in
different Universities in India and abroad.
Membership: ARVO (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology)
Membership: IBS The International Biometric Society ID: 1189116.
Took part in lab rotation High Resolution Molecular Analysis at Kerckhoff Clinic:
Centre for Heart, Lung and Rheumatic Diseases, Bad Nauheim, Germany.
