The Pediatric Emergency Room (ER) Tech 2 responsible for quick reaction and competent care of patients with emergency situations that arrive at the hospital. Specific duties include:

•Transport patients as directed

•Perform psychiatric standbys

•Apply splints

•Clean & stock rooms

•Draw blood & IVs

•Prepare EPICS (discharge instructions)

•Irrigate, debride and dress wounds

•Assist with procedure: sutures, pelvics, cautery

•Perform EKG’s

•Take vital signs, CBS (check blood sugar) & chart

•Assist with order entry & watch cardiac monitors

•Able to insert and discontinue IV catheters in adults & pediatric population and able to initiate IV fluids with no additive medications and document as required

The clinical duties of a pediatric medical assistant (Tech). Duties of a Surgical Tech and Medical Assistant before surgery, surgical techs clean, shave and disinfect the patient's incision site. Techs also transport the patients carefully from their respective rooms to the operating room and make sure they are placed on the operating room cautiously. Surgical techs also make sure that all equipments, instruments and the operating room area are sterile and in good working condition.

After surgery, surgical techs will clean the operating room for the next surgery, prepare specimens for lab analysis, wash and sterilize used equipments, check machines and check on both the last and next patients.
