Career Objective

To work in a positive environment that fosters growth in the medical interpretation field. To

continue to improve my communication skills and have a positive impact on the patient and

doctor relationship.

Experience

• For the past six years I have voluntarily assisted LEP patients and health care

p rofessionals with Spanish-English medical interpretations in various hospitals,

clinics and DSS offices throughout Suffolk County.

• Aided with interpretation of medical diagnosis to patients, helped patients provide

medical information to doctors and explained to patients the different available

t reatment alternatives.

• Helped explain to patient’s significance of lab results, areas of needed improvement

and overall status of health.

• Helped explain to patient’s policies and procedures of different establishments.

• Provided medical sight t ranslations for patients.

• Assisted medical staff and patients schedule appointments, follow-ups and

community events in person, phone o via letter.

• Assisted public health nurses with home visit interpretations on various occasions.

• Aided in simultaneous interpretations (English-Spanish) for Church Services in

various occasions.
