Resume:

James B. Dinkins, MCDBA.

**** ********* *****

Little Rock, AR 72216

501-***-**** (home)

501-***-**** (cell)

Professional Summary

Seasoned professional with 18 years of experience straddling the divide between

developing SQL Server back-end databases and programming front-end applications;

over 10 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA maintaining SQL Server 2000, 2005

and 2008 databases and trouble-shooting data access issues involving authentication,

delegation, and network connectivity. Highly motivated and self -directed learner with

excellent communication skills and a background in technical writing and experience

teaching logic and critical thinking to college students.

Technical Summary

Experience writing VBA for Word, Excel, and Outlook, programming applications using

Access VBA and DAO against SQL Server 2000 linked tables, VB 6 with ADO against

SQL Server 2005 stored procedures, and most recently, VB.Net and ASP.Net (Visual

Studio 2010) against SQL Server 2008. Currently preparing for SQL Server 2012

Developer (MCSA) certification. Experience backing up, restoring, tuning, and

maintaining SQL Server 2000, 2005, and 2008 databases in conventional and virtualized

environments. Experience installing and configuring the databases for SharePoint Server

2010 and SQL Server Reporting Servers in both the SharePoint integrated and stand-

alone configurations.

Professional Experience

Acxiom Corporation

February 2013 to August 2013

Senior Database Developer

• Developed a database to support a Web Application for internal use by Acxiom to

enable its Unit Managers to indicate the percentage of time their respective unit

members spent on activities that might qualify for a Research and Development

Tax Credit. The project specifications dictated that the application be as

configurable as possible to permit its annual reuse without rewriting: it should be

a virtual blank slate. This in turn dictated that many features one would normally

consider to be part of the fixed application design (control object choices and

page layouts) should instead be treated as configurable templates and stored in the

backend to be invoked by stored procedure calls and rendered by the browser at

run time. Consequently, the bulk of the application logic was implemented in the

database as two distinct stored procedure layers; a lower “data access” layer

handling basic CRUD operations and making simple functions calls to monitor

application and session state; and a higher “business logic” layer containing

business rules and flow control code, and making calls to the lower level

procedures in order to assemble the final output for the browser. All SQL code

was confined to the lower layer. The UI took user input, made calls to the higher,

business-logic layer’s stored procedures, and rendered the database output.
