In the years as Head of Life Sciences, I saw the department through a
period that involved fundamental educational changes in our country. A
number of changes to the curriculum took place and this allowed the
department to explore new approaches to the syllabus by introducing more
challenging and relevant content. This included biotechnology and a skills-
centred approach to the teaching of Life Sciences. During this time I
developed a number of key life skills in working with people and gained
valuable administrative and organisational skills. I have organised and
have been on many local and an overseas tour - be it tennis, hockey or
academic tours.
I have always found it challenging and inspiring to be teaching at one of
the leading independent schools in South Africa.
