Academic projects: Field study on gene & genotype frequency of autosomal dominant and sex-linked
traits in humans:
This project aimed to understand the population genetics with respect to the various human traits.
Analysis of genetic variability among petroleum degrading microbes using RAPD
techniques:
This project aimed to study the degree of polymorphism among of microbes of the genus Bacillus
in degrading petroleum using the RAPD (Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA).Four
bacterial species were taken under investigation from petroleum loaded soil samples, their DNA
was isolated and the samples were subjected to agarose gel electrophoresis. Using random
primers, the samples were amplified in the PCR. They were scored and the degree of
polymorphism was determined. It was an attempt on my part to gain hands on training in PCR,
DNA isolation skills.
Other Projects: Training at “Sangenomics Research Labs Pvt Ltd, Bangalore” on ‘Enzyme Technology’.
