III. B.E. Dissertation:
Design of Mechanically Stabilized Earth Walls (2012)
Guide: Prof. Mrs. Mittal Lad, S.P.C.E., Mumbai University
● Mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) is a construction technique with alternate
layers of compacted soil and reinforcing elements to build retaining walls and
embankments.
● Combination of soil and reinforcement behaves as a gravity mass that retains
lateral earth pressures.
● Evaluated and verified the performance of mechanically stabilized earth walls in
different condition of retained soil and backfill soil with different type of
reinforcement with variable vertical spacing.
IV. M.Tech. Tenure:
A. Project Seminars:
● “Corrosion Control in water supply pipes”
- Reasons for corrosions in water supply pipes were explained.
- Effect of corrosion on the water quality and pipe durability.
- Control Measures were discussed.
● “Trihalomethanes (THM)”
- How and why the THM’s are formed was explained.
- Health risks related to it.
● “Processing of synthetic fibres and its waste water treatment”
- Start to end processing of synthetic fibres.
- The amount of water used for the process & its treatment.
- Reuse of waste- water generated in the processing.
● Seminar on “Intake structures for water supply”
B. Industrial Visit
● Visited 900 MLD W ater Treatment Plant in Bhandup (Based in Mumbai)
wherein exposed to –
- How the water is pumped into the pumping station from the water source.
- Water treatment processes currently in use.
- Distribution of water to Mumbai City.
● Visited 100 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant in Nerul wherein learned about
advanced treatment of waste water using sequential batch reactors.
C. M.Tech Dissertation Topic:
On going dissertation study on Performance Evaluation of 25MLD Sewage
Treatment Plant at Kalyan with Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) Technology.
(2014)
Guide: Prof. Sameer Sayyad, V.J.T.I., Mumbai Univerisity
● Evaluation of sewage from treatment units for pH, BOD, COD, TSS, TKN &
TP.
● Monitoring the phases of Sequencing Batch Reactor.
● After the evaluation, determined the removal efficiency of the parameters
from the Sewage Treatment Plant and conducted questionnaires survey for O
& M Department of STP.
V. Publications:
Published “Performance Evaluation of 25MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at
Kalyan”, a research paper in American Journal of Engineering Research (A.J.E.R) as a
part of M.Tech dissertation.
