I have moved up the leadership ladder over 25 years because of my positive can do attitude and hands on approach, where I have found new ways to improve quality and output without reducing safety. I have taken several leadership courses that have assisted me with the hands on knowledge I used over the years working in different production environments from vinyl siding sand paper and rubber. I have been asked to coached and mentored associates and supervisors throughout these years.

Leadership

• Successfully met challenging production targets by effectively managing and motivating the manufacturing team.

o Regularly assigned to oversee under-performing shifts in order to improve productivity and quality.

o Train, coach and mentor manufacturing teams through all shifts with SOP’s, Safety talks, SQDC boards, and OEE charts.

• My focus on safety has a track record of zero time lost due to accidents in 12 years by maintaining monthly safety meetings, and OTS (on the spot) training.

Technical

• My green belt training allowed me to implement a SMED changeover in the finish product department which increase throughput and increasing total uptime by50%

• Improved product quality resulting in a decrease in scrap and the need for re-work, which allows me to achieved a target of reducing material waste by 5% yearly. .

• Introduced new method of grinding which increased the output by 7% monthly. and developed a way to reduce regrind scrap by 15% through demonstration of the need to modify the master schedule to reduce cross color contamination.

• Implemented the replacement of the digitec control interfaces in the compound department at a cost of $25,000, resulting in a yearly savings of $1,800,000.

• Traveled to our American facility to provide training and apply my experience and knowledge to their processes resulting in an increase of their batch process speed by 50%.

EXPERIENCE

Business Unit Manager 2011 to November 26/2013

AirBoss of America, Kitchener, Ontario

(a custom rubber compounding facility that produces rubber compounds for automotive tires and parts, flooring, mining and conveyor systems)

• Coached and lead 4 supervisors that lead their teams on a 24/7 continental rotation, allowing them to ensure finished product were shipped in a timely and accurate manner.

• Manage the KPI’s to meet all targets too ensure the quarterly bonuses for the associates was achieved.

• Improved manufacturing variance through control of manpower, overhead, safety and production supplies, overtime, training, PM’s, and product mix.

• Controlled production areas including making, quality, and logistics, of 3 business units, by scheduling resources, assigning staff to the most critical tasks, and providing cross training to ensure that all associates could operate any position as required.

• Worked closely with Human Resources in recruitment, interviewing, and performance management, arrange overtime as required to maintain the production levels, submit employee’s payroll through Kronos, and provision of correct employee disciplinary actions.

Production Supervisor 2006 - 2011

Saint-Gobain Abrasives Canada Inc.

(produces sandpaper for residential, commercial and industrial wholesale marketplace).

• Managed the production areas including 3 production lines, quality, logistics, scheduling, as well as the finishing and maintenance departments on weekends..

• Provided cross training to ensure that the associates could safely perform all production position when required.

• Assist the Human Resources department in recruitment, interviewing, and performance management, as well as arrange overtime as required to maintain the production levels, submit employee’s payroll through Kronos, and provision of correct employee disciplinary actions.

• Ensure that process was followed and what we produced each day was packaged properly and shipped in a timely and accurate manner.

• Trained all new supervisors on the requirements of the job, as well as moving to shifts to improve output and quality.

• Lead associates at meeting production targets, ensure raw materials are available and production schedule is followed to meet shipping dates.

• Direct maintenance of mechanical issues, and arrange PM's each month as well as working with lab to ensure quality of products

• Maintain 5S, health and safety and quality while assisting other supervisors with proper associate levels as required for each shift.

• Train all new supervisors as well as production operators in the compound department.

At the age of 16, I worked with Woodbridge foam rebuilding auto vents for their seat moulds while finishing high school, I had 3 employees during this operation.
