To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Raina A. Gomez and I am interested in the job opening that your company has. My experience with children is extensive, where I have had the opportunity to work with age groups ranging from Infancy to Teenagers. During the past 4 years, I have worked as a Lead Teacher’s Assistant/Associate Teacher for Beach Babies’ Child Development Center in El Segundo, CA. Before that, I served as an academic tutor for students in grades K-8th, within the LAUSD district through an after school program called College Bound for Kids. There, I held a position as a Tutor, then was promoted to Site Director/Supervisor, then Summer Camp Lead Counselor. In all of the positions that I held, I used my personal experiences of nurture, discipline, and the importance of education to influence a child’s attitude towards focusing on academics, creativity, learning, and becoming a star citizen within the community.

During my stay at Beach Babies, I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge regarding educating and caring for young children. In a classroom setting, designed for 32 students, all 3 -4 year olds, we established an 8:1 ratio, (sometimes up to 12:1, depending on staffing). Myself, along with 3 other co-teachers, were responsible for: teaching and tending to active students; illustrating and submitting colorful, creative, weekly lesson plans; encourage learning using the curriculum given; organize fun learning activities using play, manipulatives, songs, stories or imagination to motivate the student; report to my lead teacher and sometimes, director with student progress and parent concerns; and engage in various forms of communication with the parents regarding their student. I maintained a safe, clean, and supportive environment where my students felt comfortable, happy, and ready to learn.

Currently, I am a transferring student at National University in El Segundo, CA, where I plan to complete a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Child Development. Once my undergraduate degree is completed, I plan on continuing my work with preschool-aged children and attending graduate school to receive a Masters of Education degree. I am also a student at West Los Angeles College in Culver City where I am enrolled in 9 units of Child Development Classes for the Spring, 2014 semester. These units will be completed in June to give me 15 units in Early Childhood Education courses. [I have 6 units of Child Development courses at El Camino Community College, Torrance, CA. These are in Child Development: Introduction to Child Development and Home, School, and Community)].

I am a very caring, trust-worthy, and compassionate individual. I am also extremely organized, exhibit great verbal communication abilities, and the skill to convey my thoughts through writing in an accurate, professional manner. I also have the important qualities of patience, drive, and time to participate, manage, and plan events that this position may host or conduct. I hope that in this letter, you have found the ideal candidate for this position. Please also refer to my attached resume or contact me if you have any further inquiries. I appreciate your time and consideration and I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Raina Gomez
