Duties: Began as a school teacher mostly for High School and Jr High School level. But
later on, my last two years where in the Superintendents Office. I was hired as “Resource
Teacher”. The Resource Teacher was a semi-administrative position created during the
education reform that used outstanding teachers in the implementation of new methods
and techniques to teach and evaluate students. The reform involved us in the revision of
the curriculum to the implementation and development of thinking skills and plan
development. A program that proved a success after the public system had no newer
methodology implemented for 25 years . The method opened minds and doors to less
common educational practices, that were unacceptable to the “old school” educators. All
the system was based in ECA methodology (Exploration, Conceptualization and
Application). Finally I was traveling around the northern part of the island for almost a
year to bring to each teacher a one week-eight hour a day seminar to train them in the
new method.
