SUMMARY

I am currently 22 years old. I am set to obtain my undergraduate degree in International Studies in December

2014. My main focus of work has been education. I have experience in teaching English as a second language

in many diverses settings. I have taught English to many Russian speaking students in Charlotte, NC as well as

Moscow, Russia. In Moscow I taught English for a semester at London Gates Educational Group. The age

range of the students was 14 to 16 years old. I have experience teaching English as a second language to

students in the North Carolina Public school system, particularly at Albemarle Road Elementary School in

Charlotte. I have been studying the Russian language for several years and I completed my Russian minor at

the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I am currently a senior. My focus on international studies

has caused allowed me to travel, work, and study in various countries. I have been to several cities in Russia

including Moscow, Kazan, St Petersburg, and Yaraslavl. I spent the spring semester of 2013 studying Russian

language and culture at Moscow University for the Humanities. I then continued my studies at Moscow State

University where I studied linquistics and international relations.

This is a private school in the center of Moscow near Novy Arbat Street. I would teach a class of middle school students

3 - 4 times a week as a substitute teacher. My responsibilities were to fulfill the duties of an English language instructor.

I was given an opportunity to work as a teacher assistant in a very diverse setting. Many of the students at the school

speak a language other than English. A large number of students were recent immigrants to the United States. I

assisted students who were still in the beginning stages of learning the English language. I worked with students from

the 5th grade. They represented countries such as Nepal, the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, and Moldova.

Accomplishments

I volunteered to work as an English tutor to newly arrived immigrants to the Charlotte region. I worked primarily with

Russian speaking immigrants from Kazakhstan, Moldova, Belorussia, and Ukraine. I taught students from ages as

young as 4 to as old as 50. My primary responsibilities would be to visit the families at their home and conduct an

English language class lasting an hour and thirty minutes on average.

Accomplishments

• Able to gain additional experience teaching English as a second language to native Russian speakers

• The English lessons were helpful in assisting the newly arrived immigrants to work in a community that

primarily has English as the main language of choice.

• The children were able to have an easier transition into the U.S school system due to the improvement of their

I began working here as an English tutor/instructor. My students were primarily children. Thier ages

ranged from 11 years old from 17 years old. I would usually conduct the lesson at the home of the client.

Accomplishments

- When I first began working with my students, the majority of them could only speak English at the Elementary or Basic

level. My students all showed signs of improvement at the grammatical, lexical, and speaking level.

- After a few lessons of working with my students, the majority were able to improve their grades in their English classes

at their respective schools.

Summary: Tom’s House in located in the center of Moscow. My primary duties included teaching classes

of adult students. The average class size would be approximately 8 students. I was given the task of

teaching studetns at the intermediate and advanced of the English language. I taught general as well as

Business English. I usually I would be sent to the companies where my students worked. Many of my

students were learning Business English so they would be able to meet with representatives from other

international companies and speak English fluently.

Responsibilities: This is a kindergarden that consists of students aged 2-7. My primary responsibilites included

teaching the English language to these students through creative and interactive games and activites.

Accomplishments:

- I was able to improve my approach to teaching English to students between the ages of 2

and 7.

- I discovered and implemented new tecniques for teaching English to large groups of

Summary: Although my focus of work has been primarily on education, the skills I have learned through

my past jobs can be applied to other areas of work besides education. As a teacher in a formal classroom

setting, I was able to improve my organizational skills. This includes, but is not limited to, keeping a very

organized and effective schedule. When working with so many students, it is also required to be

organized. I was able to work efficiently and effectively even under pressure. Many of the administrative

skills that I acquired working as a teacher may also be applied to an office setting

SKILLS/ACCOMPLISHMENTS
