Responsible for asbestos abatement.
Duties Included:
Removed asbestos from ceilings, walls, beams, boilers, and other structures, following hazardous waste
handling guidelines: Assembled scaffolding and sealed off work area, using plastic sheeting and duct
tape.
Positioned mobile decontamination unit or portable showers at entrance of work area. Built connecting
walkway between mobile unit or portable showers and work area. Positioned portable air evacuation
and filtration system inside work area.
Sprayed chemical solution over asbestos covered surfaces to soften asbestos.
Cut and scraped asbestos from surfaces, using knife and scraper.
Shoveled asbestos into plastic disposal bags.
Cleaned work area of loose asbestos.
Placed asbestos in disposal bags.
Dismantled scaffolding and temporary walkway, placing plastic sheeting and disposal bags into
transport bags.
Sealed bags and loaded into truck for safe removal.
