Objective
Looking for full time opportunities in the field of Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical and Healthcare to utilize my research
knowledge and managerial skills starting June 2014.
Education
NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, New York (August 2012 - M ay 2014)
M aster of Science in Biotechnology, GPA 3.60/4.00
(August 2006 – M ay 2010)
Amity Uni versity, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India
Bachelors of Technology in Biotechnology, Aggregate percentage – 83%
Work Experience
Research Technician Intern - Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Research Institute,
(June 2013 – Present )
Manhattan, New York City
Investigating and characterizing the genetic onset of myeloid malignancies, focusing on various oncogenic disease alleles
found in patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms and myeloid leukemia.
Breeding mice with various combinations o f oncogenic disease alleles and retro virally inducing others before conducting
b one marrow transplants so as to develop leukemia in mice modeling such as in humans. The mice are then treated with cell
s ignaling pathway inhibitors (ex: JAK2 or Flt3 inhibitors ) to explore possible treatment methods.
(January 2013 – May2013)
Research Assistant - NYU College of Dentistry
Pathogenesis, sequencing and cloning gene patterns - Worked and assisted post doctoral candidates in their research to develop
microbial/molecular markers for early risk assessment in developing SCC (squamous cell carcinomas), ONJ (osteonecrosis of
the jaw) and dental caries at NYU College of Dentistry.
Research Assistant - NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering (September 2012 - December 2012)
Set up and maintained microbial cultures in shake flask setup. Conducted downstream processing of fermented product by
isolation and purification using thin layer chromatography. Performed antibacterial and antifungal activity assay, estimated
v iability using spectrophotometry and fluorescent microscopy.
Project Engineer - WIPRO Ltd., Gurgaon, Haryana (June 2010 - A ugust 2012)
Worked on a project to improve the time taken by traditional software’s like RAxML (which is the most famous software in
the industry to compute phylogenetic trees ).
Research Student – J amia Milia Islamia, Indi a (February 2010 - M ay 2010)
Studied inhibitory effects of Ocimum sanctum essential oil on pathogenicity markers of Candida a lbicans and manipulation of
p rogrammed cell death in cell culture. Concluded that Ocimum sanctum Essential Oil has an inhibitory effect on the growth
and H+ extrusion in Candida albicans strain ATCC 10261.
Academic and Research Projects
Planning and designing of a new biosensor to detect the risk of miscarriage. (August 2013 – December 2013)
Design o f a novel b iosensor, business rationale, designing the architecture and performing Go -to -market Strategy for the same.
Planning and designing of a novel drug to cure Candidiasis (Jan uary 2013 – M ay 2013)
M arket analysis of existing drugs, researching the assay for drug -target affinity, designing the novel chemical entity.
Acquired Research Skills
Computer Languages: Java (prior experience), C, C++, Perl, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint.
