Berico Technologies, LLC 2013 - 2014
Vice President - Operations
(Veteran-owned, small business delivering analytics solutions and engineering high performance, open-source
cloud architectures to the Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense. Berico developed a suite of
commercial products allowing customers to leverage the full potential of big data and shorten the response time
from data collection)
Personally recruited by the President/CEO to manage the back-office functions including Research &
Development (R&D), Product Marketing, Recruiting, Information Technology, Security, HR,
Communications (social media and external web presence) and facilities. Accountable with
leadership team in growing the business through orders and sales, improving the bottom-line, and led
organization by fostering a culture of creativity and delivering innovative products and services.
• Led the development of four complex, commercial R&D products that leveraged open-source,
cloud-based technologies in a highly competitive and evolving market.
• Managed the recruiting team responsible for identifying cleared professional talent in software
engineering, development, systems administration, UI/UX, intelligence analysis, data science and
social science.
• Oversaw the operations and maintenance of the company’s IT infrastructure including hardware,
software, inorganic cloud services (JIRA, GITHUB, Amazon EC2) and Government Furnished
Equipment (GFE) ensuring seamless IT service delivery to the user community.

• Served as Facility Security Officer ensuring clearance packages were processed in accordance
with NISPOM as well as the physical security of the company’s facilities, property and GFE.

• Relocated the corporate headquarters from Arlington to Reston and established a new IT
infrastructure resulting in an annual savings of >$300K.
• Authored an incentive compensation plan focused on productivity, which directly improved
monthly utilization by 10% with correlated positive impacts on sales and earnings.
• Assumed the PM role for a faltering project. Improved customer satisfaction; delivered
project early and under budget. Awarded a new follow-on project by the same customer at
twice the value of prior work.
• Implemented processes for an open-source cloud repository reducing IT service costs by

Recruited by EVP of Operations for the Land & Armaments Sector (>$9B in annual revenue in 2009-
2010) to stand-up a Performance Excellence function and implement a corporate-wide performance
metrics program and operational improvement initiative.
• Spearheaded a corporate Lean Dynamics initiative focusing on driving variable costs out of the
production environment resulting in more that $100M savings and cost avoidance.
• Conducted analysis and developed detailed briefings for the President, COO, CEO and Board of
Directors regarding strategic initiatives and operating results.
• Validated the assumptions associated with specific opportunities during the development of the
long range business plan to include market and competitive analysis, opportunity identification and
capture themes.
• Identified risks and opportunities and developed mitigation plans for the business and all major
projects. Measured and reported progress against milestone schedules and performance against
operating plans.
Chief of Staff managing and coordinating activities across the following functions; Capture

• Monitored and reported performance in terms of cost, schedule, technical, and customer
satisfaction for all major programs. Prepared reports to the executive team and the board of
directors summarizing key achievements and issues. Advised in developing and validating
recommendations for corrective action plans.
Director of Project Management-Technology, Services and Solutions (>$1B in annual revenue)
Ensured project management activities were appropriately tailored, and effectively deployed for over
200 contracts in the business portfolio.
• Provided project management training to all executives, program managers, project managers and
financial control analysts. Established training forums, created knowledge repositories and
authored corporate policies, processes and procedures related to project management and risk
management.
• Mentored key and at-risk programs by developing mitigation and response plans and assisted
program managers of underperforming projects.
• Tracked the business development activities from opportunity identification through contract
award. Assisted in reviewing capture themes and developing win strategies for dozens of
pursuits.
Program Director of the Naval Ship Systems business unit (>$200M in annual revenue) managing
operations and leading technical resources that supported Navy customers. Served as program
manager, lead engineer, technical authority and consultant. Project captures resulted in more than
$750M of orders for technical work supporting Navy ACAT 1 projects. Doubled profitability and grew
funded scope on existing business.
Engineering Program Manager (>$50M in annual revenue)
Led and managed all technical services related to Ship Design, Engineering, Production, Test, and
Trial; IT services related to integrated data environments, LAN and network administration, and
database development; and financial services related to earned value management, and the planning,
programming, budgeting and execution (PPBE) process. Supervised 62 employees, and 14
subcontracted entities (>350 persons).
