Work Experience
• Clinical Laboratory Scientist (FISH, Cytogenetics) at Integrated Oncology
(Labcorp) in Irvine CA
November 2012 to January 2014 (Labcorp relocated to Phoenix, Az)
I prepared, probed, and analyzed interphase cells using fluorescent in-situ-hybridization
(FISH). I conducted and performed several specialized assays including plasma cell
enrichment for multiple myeloma, Pathvysion (Her-2) assay for breast cancer, ALK assay
for lung cancer, and the Urovysion assay for bladder cancer. I analyzed chromosomes
found in biological specimens such as bone marrow, peripheral blood, solid tissue, etc. to
aid in the study, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with cancer. I also prepared specimen
and media for cell cultures using aseptic technique, harvested the cell cultures, prepared
slides of the cell cultures, banded the chromosomes, arranged the chromosomes in
karyotype charts, and reported any abnormalities to the client.
