A. RESEARCH EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
1. Analytical Techniques
I have more than five years experience in the practical use of advanced
analytical techniques including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC),
dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), TGA, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, HPLC,
GC/MS, GPC, NMR, scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM-EDXA),
confocal microscopy, live animal fluorescence imaging (Xenogen), spin
coating, spray drying, rheometry, potentiometry, and cyclic voltammetry.
2. Materials Chemistry
In my research projects over the past five years, I have designed, produced
and characterized a variety of natural and synthetic polymers including:
. Chitosan-functionalized mPEG-PLA (ring-opening polymerized) polymeric
nanoparticles for targeted in vivo co-delivery of nucleic acids, drugs
and MRI contrast agents using mouse model of human cancer
. Molecular imprinted polymeric nanoparticles for pH-activated drug
release
. Thermoactive polymeric nanoparticles for controlled, temperature-
inducible drug release
. Photocrosslinkable hydrogel coatings for implantable glucose sensors
. Injectable ROS (reactive oxygen species)-activated chitosan-PEG
hydrogel as stem cell carrier for regenerative medicine
. Small molecular weight polyacrylamide by precipitation polymerization
. Poly(acrylamide-co-styrene) by emulsion polymerization
. Cationic polyacrylamides using Hoffmann degradation of polyacrylamide
or poly(acrylamide-co-styrene)
3. In vitro / in vivo safety testing, pharmacokinetics and evaluation
. determine drug loading and release kinetics, cytotoxicity, cell uptake
and subcellular release of the formulation's payload in vitro
. measure the biodistribution, toxicity, and delivery efficiency of the
drugs and nucleic acids in various formulations in vivo (rodent
models)
. synthesize and characterize biocompatible polymer composites for
implantable biosensors and tissue engineering in vitro and in vivo.
