ACADEMIC PROJECTS
NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY Boston, MA Jun 2013
3D design challenge
• Designed a butterfly valve with functioning worm-wheel mechanism in SolidWorks.
• Prepared assembly drawings and Bill Of Materials (BOM).
• Performed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to determine failure threshold of different
components.
NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY Boston, MA Sept 2013-Dec 2013
Controlling gantry system and self-erecting pendulum
• Implemented and compared Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) and robust
adaptive control on a gantry system. Optimized the system to achieve desired linear
cart displacement and angular position of pendulum.
• Developed optimal control for self-erecting inverted pendulum.
NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY Boston, MA Jan 2013-Apr 2013
Mechanical/thermal stress analysis
• Performed mechanical stress analysis on a plate due to the effect of a hole.
• Performed thermal stress analysis on a composite assembly due to the flow of gas
inside the assembly and the convection cooling outside the assembly.
• Performed mechanical stress analysis on an arc due to external force.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
ADM ASSOCIATES, INC. Sacramento, CA Oct 2008 - Sept 2009
Data Analyst
• Developed simulations as part of a Commercial and Industrial Evaluation.
• Modeled HVAC systems, lighting systems, and building envelopes for detailed energy
use analyses using DOE -2.
• Evaluated load shapes by incorporating site-specific thermal characteristics, equipment,
and occupancy schedules while accounting for weather patterns and seasonality of
production.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
WHITTIER COLLEGE Whittier, CA Jun 2007-Feb 2008
Zorba, S., Farah, C., Pant, R. (2010). Measuring the Dispersion Curve of a PMMA Fiber
Optics Cable Using a Dye Laser. European Journal Of Physics, 31, 1369.
• Conducted experiments with Nitrogen-Gas dye laser to map out the chromatic
dispersion curve of a PMMA optical fiber.
• Designed the proper impedance matching circuitry to prevent any mismatch
impedances between the photo detector, the cable line, and the oscilloscope.
WHITTIER COLLEGE Whittier, CA Sept 2007-May 2008
Teaching assistant
• Prepared and conducted laboratory session and review session of course materials for
Optics and Introduction to Physics.
