Dear Director of Personnel,
Attached to this letter you will find a copy of my resume for
consideration. I am currently attending the University of New Mexico,
with a major in Family Studies. While the education I am receiving has
prepared me for a career in social work or other case management, I am
aware that it has given me the proper tools to excel in any career choice.
The many psychology and human development classes in which I have
participated have provided me with great insight into human behavior and
how to successfully respond to those behaviors. This education, along with
my past business experience has made me the perfect candidate to be a
wonderful asset to you.
You will see from my resume that I have diverse working experience.
One thing that has always remained a constant though, is my genuine love of
people and my success in public relations. For almost three years, I have
worked at Red Lobster to accommodate my full-time class schedule. I am
truly proud to have been an integral part of the hospitality which our
company is known for and I have been fortunate to have worked with a
wonderful management team. However, dining out at our price-point is a
luxury which is greatly affected by the economy. There are no guarantees
of what any server will make in a given shift and if the guests do not make
an appearance, no money is made. I am at an age where I need to be able to
anticipate my income. Therefore, I have made the decision to scale back on
my class-load and take some extra time to finish school. This will afford
me the opportunity to find full-time, long-term employment. As difficult
as it was to make this decision, I have every confidence that I will find a
position which will offer fulfillment and an opportunity to utilize my
skills and exceptionality, all while providing myself with the financial
stability which I require.
Having previously owned my own business, I realize the importance of
dependability, honesty and hard work, not to mention the fine balance
between great customer service and employer loyalty that an employee must
exhibit to be valued. I expect these characteristics of myself and you can
consistently expect them from me. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to
use my education, skills and experience to be an asset and valuable part of
your company and team.
Thank you so much for your consideration and I look forward to
speaking with you soon.
Sincerely,
Deborah Hamner
Career Objective
I am looking for a full-time, permanent position where I may use my
knowledge and experience for the benefit of my employer. It is equally
important for me to be provided with an opportunity to learn and grow
within the company so that I may achieve a goal of long-term success.
