Relieves Chief Hearing Examiner and three Hearing Unit Examiners (magistrates) of non-routine
administrative duties and assisting in Hearing Unit administration as well as assisting in
formulation of practices and procedures and developing and implementing policy. Runs the Unit
on a day-to-day basis, taking care of many administrative functions so that the Hearing
E xaminers can focus on hearings and writing reports. This includes managing the monthly
mailings of evidence and final reports to the Board, preparing paper and electronic copies of all
evidence and reports, writing and filing motions, maintaining databases and creating periodic
statistical reports, management of Hearing Unit calendar including scheduling hearings,
managing attendance of court reporters, and scheduling contract examiners as needed. Assists
w ith annual budget preparation, fiscal management, and staffing levels.
