Dana India Pvt.Limited,Pune,India June 2013 August 2013
Manufacturing Engineering Intern
• Worked in cross functional team of design, manufacturing, production and quality to upgrade the existing
compactor axle assembly line in 3 months.
• Analyzed and optimized the existing workflow and material flow using flowcharts and Dana’s standards for axle
assembly to accommodate new equipment needs such as air leak testing, high speed test bench, fixtures, trolleys
etc.
• Created and updated failure mode effect analysis sheet (FMEA) based on customer feedback and high speed
testing of axles and control plan.
• Created standard toolings, gauges and equipment list for assembly line.
• Created process flow data sheet for various parameters such as braking, slip, noise, power loss measured in high
speed test bench for axles.
• Analyzed production bill of material (BOM) for 4 different variants of axle assemblies to help drive commonality in
procurement and assembly of components.
• Designed and manufactured jigs/fixtures and material handling equipment such as pallets, trolleys and lifting
tackles.
• Defined technical specifications and bid tabulation sheets for procurement of various components such trolleys,
fixtures and toolings.
• Conducted time study for assembly sequence to document and optimize each assembly cycle.
Amit Engineering, Pune June 2010–May 2012
Design and Manufacturing Intern
• Designed and developed material handling equipment such as electric industrial trucks, tow tractors, scissor lift
tables, dock levelers, stackers and special purpose pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
• Calculated and prepared technical specification sheet and general arrangement drawings based on customer
requirements and application.
• Performed design calculation manually, drafted detailed layout of equipment in AutoCAD.
• Prepared bill of material and detailed drawings for maching, fabrication and assembly.
• Planned and established sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts to promote efficient utilization
of resources .
• Developed in house capability for testing capacity and durability of manufactured equipment and documented
detailed testing report.
• Prepared service manuals, commissioned equipment, trained personnel and documented customer feedback.
• Achievements:
Designed and manufactured transmission gear box for 4 Ton electric truck at 50% of the
•
market price.
First to develop Screw Jack scissor lift table in India for Mahindra Navistar.
•
Projects:
Design, Fabricate and Test 2 stroke engine powered Farm Machine Dec 2011
Application for cultivation, spraying pesticides and grass cutting operations.
• Conceptualized, prepared architecture and modeled in Pro E.
• Performed manual design calculations for bending stress, torsional stress, frame twisting, weight.
• Manufactured and assembled farm machine in college workshop.
• Tested in the field with diverse real time operating conditions: soil, weather.
• Analyzed test results to determine performance, efficiency, ROI and modifications, improvements
after trials.
Study of reverse brake judder for Meritor Corporation (NVH analysis) Jan 2014
Evaluation of the causes for the vibration and control parameters to minimize the reverse brake judder in truck front
axle.
Test Bench for Finite Element Analysis: Dec 2013
Developed and upgraded existing test bench for calculation of actual load and strain for simply supported beams,
channels, tubes and other miscellaneous members. Acquired data through strain gauge, load cells and LabVIEW.
Results were validated in ABAQUS.
Computational Fluid Engineering: Nov 2013
Analyzed flow over Backward facing step subjected to convective heat transfer for moderate Reynolds number in
ANSYS FLUENT.
Finite element Analysis of Axle shaft: April 2013
Computed and analyzed axle shaft of rear wheel drive car using ABAQUS to determine stress distribution to identify
the failure region.
Quality Engineering: Dec 2012
Developed statistical process control for examination of welding process of pressure vessels. Project included
collection of manufacturing data, processing and plotting of attribute control chart to estimate process capability and
welder's capability.
