City Of Carson Multipurpose Senior Center

SOCIAL SERVICES COORDINATOR 12/2000 to 2008

Organizes, performance coordinates specialize social service programs for senior citizens . The

community Volunteer Tax Assistance Program, Handyman / Homemaker program, and the Stroke

Center, etc. Provided in-depth information and training, assistance, as well as counseling,

referrals and follow-up to seniors, their families and the community. This is done, with reference

to the Department of Public Social Services, Social Security, In Home Support services and

other public & private resources programs. Performed psychosocial assessments and provided

appropriate information and referral as ne cessary. Participates in networking, continuing

and retention of volunteers. Administered budget and fundraising activities. Coordinated activities

and conferred with other departments and community agencies. Conducted volunteer

recognition and other community special events. Provided training, supervision and monitoring

of paid and volunteer staff.

Twin Palms Care Center

296 bed locked skilled nursing facility (sister facility of Signal hill). Responsible for direction of social

services staff. Provided medically related social services to a variety of residents, including mental

health, Alzheimer's & related dementias, Hospice and ICF populations. Provided monthly family

council/support groups. Directly responsible for administration of residents Psycho-social needs.

Conducted investigations of alleged adult abuse. Directed the Alzheimer’s Dementia Unit including

marketing and coordination of the unit. Provided training for facility staff, residents and families on

psycho-social and relevant issues related to all aspects of long term care.

Signal Hill LTC Care Center

Fountain Gardens LTC Convalescent Hospital (relocated to Los Angeles Area)

multidisciplinary team. Department head responsible for assessment care planning and administering

school full time as well)

Trauma Intervention Programs, Inc.

CRISIS INTERVENTION COUNSELOR 9/90 to 5/92

Provided emotional and practical support to victims of traumatic incidents or to their families

immediately following the intervention of police or fire personnel. Called in to assist the following types

of victims: Citizens who were despondent; victims of robbery ; victims of family violence; disoriented

elderly persons; and victims of other crisis. Also responsible for written reports and follow -up.

Completed 80 hour training program. Received 1991 Ford Foundation and Harvard University

Innovations Award.
