Profile
I started my career as an apprentice chef at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London in 1969,
qualifying in 1971. I then moved to Kent and became second chef and eventually head chef at
The Park Gate Restaurant in Hollingbourne. In 1975 I joined The Who da Thought It Pub
Restaurant in Grafty Green Kent, this led me to take my own tenancy at The Harrow Public
House in Stockbury Kent, which, in 1992, I purchased from Courage Brewery and ran as a
freehouse until my semi retirement in 2005. In 2006 I was offered the unique opportunity of
running a garden furniture franchise for Nova of Faversham who imported premium goods. In
2009 Reigate Garden Furniture took over and I continued to work for them selling a very wide
range of garden leisure products and cane conservatory furniture.
Key Achievements
In my capacity as chef I increased the restaurant cover rating dramatically from 25 to 90 on a
weekend evening.
I ran my own country pub/restaurant very successfully for 23 years.
Whilst working for Reigate Garden Furniture I notified my employer of the availability of
another franchise outlet for the company which proved to be a very successful acquisition.

Whilst working under my own initiative in this position I was responsible for the construction,
sales, ordering and delivery of purchases to the customer.

My duties in this position included selling to the public at the factory outlet in Faversham,
working the franchises within department stores and garden centres

From June 1983 I became self employed, running my own pub/restaurant, dealing with every
aspect of customer care, staffing, ordering and day to day duties of organising a successful
and very popular village venue. In August 2005 I decided to sell my business after 23 years of

Core Skills
As shown on my CV every job I have had has been dealing directly with the customers and
staff and I feel one of my strengths as an employee is to be able to communicate well. I enjoy
the interaction and challenge of selling to customers and I have a "can do" type of personality.
